Was good before, but getting worse by time since TVs coming to interview them. Product was too greasy as oil dropping, tastes of meat and veggies are gone because of oil. It was tiny, like less than my palm but couldn’t finish. Then, they told...(forced) us to eat small hut like place next door. C´mon, we can eat anywhere we want! DONT GO, DONT BUY.More
This fried crockque is a bomb. Must try if you visit nakamise street. Can have quite a line on weekends. Have an eating space close by, so don't eat while walking.
As you walk to the asakusa temple, halfway there you can turn left and when you walk straight down you can see the line of people queueing to get a hand on this croquette. It move quite fast so do guve it a try. It...definitely worth your waiting time.More
This place is amazing. You'll know you're there when you see the line. Just point, English not really spoken.
This menchi was really juicy and crispy, the meat inside was really good too. Great snack for 200 yen.
Probably one of the best things I have ever eaten in my whole life. It was sunny, Golden week celebrations, we were strolling around Asakusa area and we have noticed a large group of people holding a white paper bag with one of these greasy,...crispy and tasty wonders. A little queue and we had our menchis. It was my first menchi and I’ve started with the best. A must eat in Tokyo!More
Visiting the Senso-ji and passed this stall along the path. It was obvious that it was well known as people were lining up to try one of the packaged snacks. Very fresh and tasty.
I really didn’t know what the whole hype is when it’s immersed with oil. I understand the freshness of it, but just can’t stand how oily it was and ppl were lining up for it. I thought it was overrated.
I first came to Tokyo in Autumn 2014. Upon visiting Asakusa we stumbled upon Asakusa Menchi purely by chance. We found a long queue at the street vendor so assumed whatever it sold must be good, and I'm very glad we tried it. The fried...menchi is absolutely delicious. Unfortunately I didn't note down a name so I wasn't sure I would be able to find it going back in January 2018. The good news is that it's fairly easy to locate, just off nakimase shopping street! Look for the long queue of people (we started queueing before it even opened!) and pick up a couple 150 yen menchi. You are not allowed to walk and eat but they provide a seating/standing area a couple doors down to feast into your greasy treats.More
Juiciest and crispiest menchi katsu I've had. And for a very affordable price as well. If you are ever in Asakusa, be sure to pick on up!
This fried menchi is soooo good. All the menchi they offered is just cooked, so they taste just so good. However, the problem is ppl in Japan can not eat and walk at the same time, so u may have to find a nice spot...to enjoy ur menchi. Also, it is always super crowded there. Anyway, the menchi is just too good, u really have to try!!More
I've been to Sensoji and Nakamisedori before but it was only before my last trip that I read about Asakusa Menchi on the internet. I knew I had to go back and try it on my latest trip to Tokyo. There was a line in...front of the shop but turnover was fast as there was a freshly cooked batch of menchi ready to be sold. The menchi was still warm when I took a bite off mine. Very tasty. Not oily as I was expecting. I wish I could have eaten another but I already had a beef curry bun from next-door neighbor Toyofuku (which was delicious too).More
This is only a shop, not a restaurant, with some benches to sit on and also an automatic drink seller. These fried meatballs were very good and cheap, not to miss for a break!
Read good things about it in a guide book and decided to locate and give it a go. A very small shop on a road just to the left of the entrance to the temple itself after the souvenir shops. You would really have to...turn into that street walk about 5 minutes before you can see it. They do not have a big sign but you would probably notice that you are there with various people standing on the street in front of it holding a white bag with a deep fried pork patty inside. It is made with minced pork with onion in it and is done perfect so that there is still a large amount of juice and broth coming from the meat itself. Excellent snack!More
