It was a average taste you can fine from any convenient store. Don't expect anything if you want to give a try.

Dorayaki was never my crave but it was the 10min that sparks my curiosity. Yes, no doubt that the Dorayaki - a Japanese pancake with red bean - is available for only 10min daily at the Usagiya, from 9.00am-9.10am. The locals were already queuing when I got there (well we all know Japanese is a big fan of queuing). The... More

They have a bunch of stuff there but it seems like most people go for the dora-yaki. And they were great and cheap (around a couple hundred yen). If you are in the area, you must go. The trip advisor marker is a little off, but just ask at the police box and they'll send you in the right direction.... More

Apparently this place is Tokyo's oldest and most famous dorayaki place and stocks are limited everyday. Our dorayaki was chock full of sweet, whole azuki beans, wrapped in a soft, pillowy pancake that is made fresh daily. Excellent. ¥205 a pop.

wagashi-traditional Japanese sweets I visited this place waaay back in Dec. 2014 to pick up some dorayaki for my host brother, who's a huge fan of wagashi. I'm not a huge fan of wagashi; 95% of it involves red beans in some form, which I like, but it's just not WOW, you know. I will say that this is THE... More

The dorayaki from this shop are fresh and without any preservative. The dorayaki also larger than normal dorayaki that you get elsewhere and you can eat whole red bean. The taste is not overly sweet and the pancake were moist and soft. Although, the dorayaki is larger and taste wise is good but I think its not great. The red... More

The sweet red bean paste is not too sweet but so tasty, and the pancakes are nicely moist and soft. Very sophistecated!

We instantly recognized this as a cool, high quality place. They sell traditional sweet bean based desserts. We tried several different pieces, and they all tasted great.

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
