Tried 3 different dessert items. Green tea ice cream, white mochi and rectangular red bean paste are nice. Could do with less syrup in dessert bowl. Quite a bit of agar agar cubes at the bottom of bowl. Good place for red bean lovers. Not much ambience and not memorable for my family.

The place is lovely and the food is so good. It is much sweeter than my normal level but still I enjoyed it a lot I ordered 2 for myself. Hope I can come back for more try.

Good dessert made with red beans paste (anmitsu), red beans, jelly, and mochi I had the soft ice cream and fruits one as recommended by another review and it was quite good. Luckily, we waited till 20:00 to come here, at our first try around 18:00 the queue was going out the door and I'm no longer in the mood... More

The shop itself is very small, but it has a long history. If you d like to try some Japanese sweet, come and visit this cafe shop (no coffee, but free green tea with order of sweets!)The price is reasonable and you can have a cozy time after browsing Ueno area.

本店も風情があってとても良いのですが、アトレ内の分店の方が空いている気がします。どのみち回転は良いのですが。 お土産用の白玉ぜんざいやあんみつ、ところてん、大好きです! A perfect traditional cafe to enjoy Japanese sweets! It's an oasis in Ueno!

Desserts here are affordable and delicious. Expect to spend about ¥600 per serving. Matcha ice cream has strong green tea flavor which I enjoy. The restaurant is easy to locate as it's along main street. Definitely recommended to dessert lovers looking for local flavors.

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
