Having enjoyed teppanyaki at Benihana's throughout the world I was expecting some spectacular tasting food from the 5-star hotel. Unfortunately it was not to be. Sure it was tasty, but not spectacular. Unfortunately the chef overcooked my meat, so that added to my disappointment. View was spectacular, and made dinner enjoyable, but could not make up for disappointment with the... More

Lunch at Kyubey is pricey in a city where you can get excellent sushi at reasonable prices. But if you can afford it the omakase lunch (12 pieces of sushi, clam soup and a few extras) is the cheapest way to have a high level sushi experience. We had our own sushi chef who hand prepared each piece and presented... More

One of our goals was to get Omakase in Japan. For the price compared to the US, the quality and experience was worth it. Chef had 45 years experience as a sushi chef. Leave the meal up to him. A truly unforgettable experience.

This was our last journey on our visit of Tokyo. We stayed at Keio Plaza hotel and had enough time before we got on limo to the airport but not too far away. We decided to go here due to great reviews. We had bad experience of sushi in Omotesando and gave a another try. AND it was PERFECT LAST... More

One of the very few renown excellent restaurants that allows children (we have a 5 year old); so we were thrilled to have the opportunity to experience a formal Japanese kaiseki style meal. The balance of Michelin starred places bar children. We sat in a room that was manned by a chef and a second, and allowed for 10 people... More

Stayed one week in Shinjuku. Pretty much over priced, over hyped, smoke filled room. What amazed me was, Japanese are willing to pay for dinning out. I.e $200.00 per person on Tepanyaki or $150.00 for Italian food modified for Japanese taste.

I have been there on a business lunch. Very polite staff and amazing food. A real sushi experience with the right ambiance.

For last 8 years, Kyubey is my to go to place for excellent sushi. However, this visit has been very disappointing! Staff still very polite but the quality and service from chef are no longer the standard I remembered. They are not as welcoming as before and roll out the sushi at a rapid pace as if in a fast... It was recommended to us by all our friends I had really high expectations going there. The food was below average and super expensive.

Remarkable food, service and lovely intimate setting (8 seat Sushi Bar) inside the Keio Plaza Hotel. We were speechless after every delicious bite. The Staff is sweet and friendly and everything-small starters, sake, sashimi, sushi (especially the sushi rice), soup, and melon were excellent. Highly recommended.

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
