Tuff getting a table but worth the wait. Food and service is very nice and efficient. You can also opt for a seat at the counter watching the chefs make the food. This place was recommended by a local and lots of local there so we knew it was going to be good.🖒😁🍾

We were a party of 5. We didn't make reservation but were told to wait short before we were led to a cozy private room. Excellent and courteous service. We ordered the "popular" dishes and they were all delicious and filling at very affordable prices. Though we were stuffed full of food up to our noses, all of us agreed... More

I visited the Hibiki restaurant for a business dinner with a large group. The set menu was exceptional, including some Yellowtail (Hamachi) sashimi that was really amazing. The restaurant is somewhere around the 40th floor and has an amazing view of the Shinjuku area. I was really hoping to take advantage of the namesake and buy myself an expensive bottle... More

This is definitely one of the better Izekaya's in Tokyo, The atmosphere is nice, the food is fresh, well prepared and thus, healthy. The drink menu offers excellent choices in beer, whisky, sake and sochu. It is not cheap, but the price is right for the quality given. I would, to be on the safe site, estimate to spend 10,000... I went with a friend, who is local and recommended Hibiki. It is 8 floors up in central Shinjuku. We had a bamboo bottle of chilled sake, drunk from small bamboo cups. Delicious and very fruity. There are free appetisers, which we followed with vegetable dishes. Then, a selection of 3 types of beef, which were quite superb: one soft... More

There is a considerable degree of confusion about the location of this branch of Hibiki in Shinjuku in the reviews. Hibiki has three branches: one in the Nomura Building in West Shinjuku where the "skyscrapper" and "49th floor" from other reviews referred to; another one on the 4th floor of Odakyu Southern Tower; and this one on the 8th floor... This restaurant is located on one of the top floors of a skyscraper. The views out toward Tokyo bay are spectacular. The tables are very low, so you squat on cushions or put your feet in a well under the table. The food was genuine Japanese but not remarkable. You pay for the location, so if you come with not... The menu is quite creative but I don't find them tasty. The strangest thing is, being a restaurant located centrally in the touristy area, not even one of their staff can speak a minimum level of English. With my limited Japanese I managed to order. Whatever I ordered the waiter would comment "it will take very long 40-50 min". At... More

I am a big fan of Hibiki whiskey, and missed out on the whiskey tour. This was the next best thing. Got to try some nice whiskey with an excellent view - actually taking the lift to the top was also quite an experience ! The food was not as expected. I was feeling like a burger and chips, so... Located on the 49th floor, the view is spectacular and the restaurant is nice. Food is good, but comparing to e.g. Washoku En on the 42nd floor in Shiodome quite a lot pricier. Partly because of a high cover charge. But the rating would have been higher, if it hadn't been for the service, which was very slow. We spent... More

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
