We got the pork cutlets and the potato croquettes with that amazing plum sauce from the takeout window and ate it at a park a short walk away. We avoided the long lines and had a delicious, if messy meal quickly and moved on.

The restaurant is huge as we walked through to their back area. Tonkatsu choices were several as you picked the quality/cut of pork and how served. The batter was amazing.

Good healthy food with free served tea and appropriate price. The one that may frustrate us just very long queues . The location is just good so I can walk from Harajuku street to this location just less than 10 minutes.

Long lines in Tokyo are fine, but 50% of the tables are empty and only 20% of customers without food is not.

Very popular spot again in major shopping area. Best meat cuts are limited, so ensure you go early to get your choice. Meat cooked well, stick to the cutlets! There was a special for noodles with a peanut sauce bade which was delish! $$

Arrived at 720pm and waited 20 mins for a table. Wanted to try their signature Okita Kurobuta but it was sold out. So we settled on the supposed next best - black pork loin sets and black pork fillet sets (3100Yen each). We were not wowed by the food nor service, maybe because we really enjoyed the famous tonkatsu at... More

This place was highly recommend by various people and when we arrived at 1.30pm on a weekday, there was still a queue. We were shown a table after 30 minutes or so. We ordered various types of pork loins, including the tonkatsu sandwich, and the tonkatsu were fantastic. We agree that this place is an institution indeed.

I had a very nice meal, pork cutlet with curry. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because they were out of a number of the items. And I was there for a very early dinner, 4:30 PM. This seems to be common in Japanese restaurants. I the quality of food is very high, which sometimes limits... More

Very good original Japanese food in a quiet street close to Shibuya. Choice of seating: at a bar, tatami mats, or table. Polite and quick service, served with complimentary ice cream. Free horseradish with sauce, as much as you would like. A very expensive shopping district Harajuku is close for a post meal easy stroll.

Staying in Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu

Neighbourhood Profile
Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.
