On our recent trip to Japan, we'd been searching for a good Tonkatsu place and we found one inside Mark City in Shibuya. The food was amazing and experience was awesome. We tried some of the pork tonkatsu as well as the fried shrimp, fried oysters and all the other delectable goodies that came with our meal.

Hungry and tired after a long day of sightseeing and shopping, we were starving. This restaurant came recommended and was close to our hotel. We had to wait, but not long...they do have an English menu. Our server explained the sauces. The fried pork was delicious and great miso soup! Highly recommend

First meal in Tokyo. We arrived late into Tokyo and was not sure what to eat. Wako in Mark City was a safe bet as what could be wrong with fried pork. Service was good. Food even better. English menu and with your tonkatsu you had rice, soup and cabbage. You could refill your rice, soup and cabbage for free.... More

I have gone to Wako Tonkatsu at Ikebukuro many a times and the experience has always been fabulous. My first time trying another Wako and I was quite disappointed with the service. The server's manner towards foreigners were definitely different then towards locals. It was not just with me but with other foreigners that came in after me. Such a... More

When in Japan you must go to Wako and get some serious pork fried goodness. All of the food is very fresh and the service is very good. It is helpful to speak a little Japanese. However they do offer an English menu

Melt in the mouth tonkatsu (we dined in 4 times in two weeks we were in Tokyo). Wonderful service crew. Nice, clean, cozy restaurant.

When we arrived in Shibuya we had a late lunch here. The tonkatsu is great! Miso soup, cabbage shreds add to the yummy dish. Friendly staff.

The service was quick and prompt. The pork/shrimp/chicken dish was very tasty; it came with chawanmushi, soup and rice.

There are many tonkatsu sets here with great varieties. There is also a free flow of the rice, salad and miso soup (which is delicious). The staff are very polite and welcoming. However, you may need to wait for a short while if you're dining with a larger group of people (more than 2). I will definitely recommend this to... More

Most of my time in Japan was spent eating at small, whole in the wall restaurants. Wako is not one of these places. It's located inside a mall and has a more western feel, but don't let that fool you. The food is authentic and delicious.Like most places in Japan, service was fast and good. The pricing is comparable to... More

Staying in Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu

Neighbourhood Profile
Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.
