Went for the set, cooked by the chef in front of you, per pax 16200 yen. Selection of 3 tiger prawns, scallop, fish and veggies. See picture, nothing to shout about, but ok for first timer, not worth the price.

I have patronized this 100-year-old restaurant for almost 30 years. It was one of the very few restaurants indicated on an old English-language map for American GI's in 1950s. Fried shrimps very fresh and not greasy. Soya sauce is a kind of house-secret. Order the most popular Fried Shrimp on Rise in Bowl A, B, or C, depending how rich... More

The staff members were rather prompt in welcoming us and we were offered the English and Chinese menus. The tempuras from the C-don and Amago-don were limp, greasy and soggy. The prawns, I've a feeling, isn't fresh and had been frozen. Wouldn't be a restaurant I'd recommend anyone nor would I pay almost ¥8000 for two pax to visit again.

Our hotel recommended this restaurant being an easy walk from the hotel. We were warmly welcomed and provided with English menus along with a cup of tea, a hot towel and our chopsticks. The wait staff either spoke or understood English sufficiently well so that we were able to order exactly what we wanted. They even accommodated my request and... More

The underlying ingredients are excellent. The maitake tempura is absolutely inspired. But the time the tempura got to our table, though, it was lukewarm, soggy, and limp. You may have a better experience if you sit at the counter.

The staff were welcoming, the view from the upstairs window was really interesting and the food was OK but slightly heavy. I have eaten better. I guess it is good for a rapid lunch but I would go elsewhere for dinner.

Would recommend to avoid this restaurant. For a tempura restaurant, this place does not deliver! Tempura was soggy and heavy. The waitresses wear traditional clothes and the room itself is quite traditional, however there is no ambiance due to bright lights and only a few tables meaning everyone talks softly.

The expensive tempura we were served belonged in a "greasy spoon" restaurant. What made it worse was that the Japanese couple opposite us was served what appeared to be a beautiful meal. Service was fine.

As enjoyable a tempura spot as the many many places in Tokyo. We were upstairs which offered a lovely view and the tempura was done perfectly -- though next time I need to remember to get it off the rice so it is crispy! The only thing that marred our visit was well beyond the restaurant's control -- a table... More

It is a subsidiary of the oldest 天麩羅 restaurant in Ginza very near Shinbashi. In basement guests enjoy 天麩羅 directly watching chef cook very fresh all the time. In ground floor is regular restaurant.
