Wow. Just wow. Go here. Don’t think twice. My only complaint is that I will never look at Udon the same way again in life. I am so glad I stumbled across Maruka. This small little shop will not disappoint. They have no English menu,...but the server was incredibly nice and helped recommend what to order in broken English, which did not disappoint. I got the most delicious handmade Udon I’ve ever tasted with shrimp tempura. The noodles were life changing, the broth was perfect. Everything about this meal was incredible. There may be a line outside when you get here, but don’t fret - it moves quick and is 1000% worth it.More

This place is like a japanese version of fast food. There is no time and space for chatting, diners just eat and leave. Although the queue can be long, usually you dont wait for more than 30 minutes. The udon here has great texture, chewy...and delicious. I love their broth too. Menu is in japanese only (i used google translate). We also ordered fried chicken and tempura shrimp. Both are good as well.More

This place is small, casual, authentic, and traveler friendly despite the all Japanese menu and a pleasant lack of tourists, and — most importantly of all — super delicious. You need only a small bit of adventurous spirit to make your visit a delight. Highly...recommended.More

Delicious udon shop that plays Jimi Hendrix while you eat. The menu is Japanese only although there is some English by the door. The English just gives you the names of the dishes though, no descriptions of what it actually means. I went on Google...Reviews and just pointed at pictures of what I wanted. The line moves quickly as people tend to eat and then go. Would recommend the beef udon - the broth was so tasty!More

I actually bumped into this restaurant by chance. The queue got my attention. They don't have an English menu but the variety of udon dishes are displayed at the entrance and pretty straight forward. Also, the waitress can speak English. I was told the most...popular dishes were the kake-udon and the niku (beef udon). So I tried the beef and a side of fish cake tempura. They were both delicious. The udon even more so during winter as I was completely warmed up sipping the hot broth down to the very last drop. The restaurant is small. Not suitable for big groups and not suitable for kids in my view. There is a queue when I was there, my wait was about 15 min and I started queuing at 11am. It was longer when I left at 12pm, but it moves quite fast. Worth a try.More

I've came here after a reading some positive reviews on this place and these didn't disappoint. This place is not thing too fancy, but has a nice local atmosphere and serves the locals workers for lunch (this means there may be a line outside so...go in fast, eat, pay and leave). The prices are decent and the udon is very good, the menu offers about the dozen different types of soup and is in Japanese but the hostess helped me figure out what's what.More

I was in the area and hungry already at 6pm. This place had a queue outside (all Japanese) was full inside (all Japanese) and a menu where the only words I understood were udon and birru. Sorted! I had what the guy next to me...had (beef udon + chicken tempura) and loved it: real depth of flavour to the broth and the chicken was perfect. The queue was even longer when I left. Great place.More

Read about this udon restaurant and decided to go on a weekday evening. Waited in line, where they hand you a menu beforehand, for them to open the restaurant for the night shift. When I asked what was recommended, I was told the kake udon...with their various tempuras. (2nd Visit:)Weekday dinner time, no line. -Kake udon: Udon and broth flavor was solid. -Shrimp tempura: One of the best shrimp tempuras I've had, paired wonderfully with the udon. (2nd Visit) -Niku udon: Their udon broth with bonito flakes and sukiyaki type thin sliced meats. Enjoyed this more than the kake udon. -Shrimp tempura: Not as hot and crispy as last time, but delicious nonetheless. -Chikuwa: After I learned that this was a specilaty here, wanted to give it a try. Didn't disappoint. Delicious! Really well flavored. Although I feel it wasn't exactly fresh out of the fryer (shrimp included.) They might've mistimed the udon and tempura. Overall, I wasn't too impressed. (2nd Visit:) Enjoyed the niku udon more than the kake udon. The tempuras weren't consistent in quality, but still scrumptious. Try the kake udon if you want to taste the foundation of the broth. Would I go back? I'd like to understand the hype of this restaurant. Next time I'll get the chikuwa and niku udon. (2nd Visit:) If I'm around the area, sure. Won't make a trip specifically for this place, Do I recommend this place? Hard to say. The udon noodle here is awesome, but I've had better flavored broth elsewhere. Give it a try if you're near the area.More

Busy when we went at lunch with a long queue down the street, however this moved surprisingly fast. Food was great value and delicious. We had both hot and cold soba with prawn and vegetable tempura. Staff friendly, restaurant very clean with nice communal atmosphere....Menu can be hard to translate - the first item on the menu is your standard udon which you can choose to have hot or cold. Then just pick from chicken, prawn or vegetable tempura. Great value for money. Would highly recommend.More

If you're pesco, that restaurant would be ok. But soup of udon is made by dried fish.
