Sea bass was excellent - as was the aspect. Otherwise Taberna Del Puerto achieved a number of notable firsts 1. Starter arrived before wine ; was obviously prepared hours in advance 2. Waiter did not pour wine or water 3. No one asked how meal was 4. Charged for 2 portions of bread we didn't ask for Sea bass was... More

Went there for dinner tonight. Staff totally preoccupied with a large group booking . Took a long time to order and when food finally arrived it was very poor(paella overcooked rice and very little seafood) had to ask 3 times for bill. Could not wait to leave. There are much better places in Alicante so avoid this place!

We went in just before the rush because Santi restaurant only had 1 place in the back. We got a great place to sit and they got us an English speaking waiter. Kids menu was not flexible but our freshly grilled seabass made up for it which we enjoyed with the dry house wine. They even divided the fish on... More

First thing we did not like about this place: when you arrive, they bring you olives and bread, and then charge you for it! One bowl of olives and 2 portions of (stale) bread on the bill! That should be free, or we should be asked if we want it! Food average, I ate half of my prawns as they... More

A very quiet chilly evening and wanting to sit inside , friendly non pushy staff as we dodged other waiters shouting from other restaurants. The food was good but uninspiring, we had filet steaks which were perfectly cooked and tasty but came with chips and some bitter green peppers, our fault for not asking & ordering veg i suppose .... We stopped here for lunch and had the menu del dia which appeared reasonable value. This comprised four courses which all sounded quite promising but in reality turned out to be rather heavy and filling and lacking in any finesse of flavour. Service was fine and the wine list was quite extensive. Ultimately an average experience.

The food was good, better than we expected but the waiters were so pushy that you couldn't really enjoy it. Shame about the service.

We visited this restaurant on our last evening of our stay at Alicante, we wanted to have paella so walked along the harbor to see which restaurant to try. Decided on Taberna as the menu looked good and decent price. The setting was lovely and friendly service, it was quiet time of year. We ordered the potatoes and iberico ham... More

We visited this restaurant at the end of October, being during the UK half term we had our sons with us. It was warm enough to sit outside. They welcome was warm and they put up with my Beginner's standard Spanish. I was able to given the chance to help practice a conversation without being answered in english. We've visited... More

We visited here this evening for a meal for my birthday. Although very quiet when we entered the place was pristine. Warm and welcoming. Menu to suit different palates. We chose the set menu and I HIGHLY recommend it. It's definitely MORE THAN value for money. The staff were extremely pleasant and attentive. We shall definitely be returning and definitely... More
