Definitely worth an evening. Zapiain is one of the top selling apple cider brands in the Basque Country. They offer the classic sidrería experience during the season — January through April. The “experience” includes a meal offering a generous selection of charcoal grilled cod fish...and a porterhouse steak. Starters include grilled chorizo and blood sausage followed by an excellent codfish omelette. There’s no seating — you stand at long bar-height tables for your meal. Which is for the best, as you are expected to make frequent trips to one of the two large barrel chambers where brew-masters pour fresh cider into your glass. This is the type of dining and drinking experience you’re certain to fondly remember.More

Even if you are not a fan of cider, the experience of this restaurant does start with the location and the fact that the drink is served directly from the huge barril of cider. you do not have to worry about the menu and let...yourself enjoy the conversation while drinking and eating the 4 course meal, local sausages, omelet , cod fish and bone in ribeye! A must do if you like to understand local habits. by the way, no seating in this restaurant, just high tablesMore

Best ambiance, best meal! Very authentic Spanish dish. The owner was very friendly and the food is excellent. Iw ould definitely go back here.

Take a taxi. The cider is included in the txotx; drink a little, often. Thousand liter barrels each with a different apple, acidity, character... You want to try each. Get to know this excellent cider. I repeat: You'll need a taxi, and it's just €10-15...from here to the beaches in San Sebastian. Standard Basque-ciderhouse fare: Marcella & chorizo with bread bread; salt-cod "spanish omelette"; salt-cod in olive oil with peppers and onion; I KID YOU NOT - THE BEST STEAK I'VE EVER HAD; finished with cheese with walnuts and quince paste/jelly. There were three of us, and the bill came to about €35 each (the steak, txuleta, is charged by weight, so there's no set price). An amazing value for all that we had. No chairs! You will stand for at least an hour, maybe three. You will make acquaintances with locals and/or other travelers in a very convivial atmosphere. The service was friendly, and kind. Apples are pressed in October, tastings and dinner (the Txotx) start in January, and the cider evolves until the end of April/start of May when they bottle the product. So, if you're not there the first four months of the year, you're out of luck. Change the dates you're traveling, and you'll be pleased you did. I am so sad that I live so very far from here. Did I mention? The very best steak... in my life... I get emotional about it. I'm going back.More

This is one fantastic place to visit!! Mikel, Ion and his family are super passionate!! Striving to produce great cider, 100% eco friendly using gravity to the max!! They make wonderful spirits too you must not miss!!

Best steak I've ever had, beautiful tortilla and Bacalao (salted cod), followed by cheese and walnuts, washed down with as much cider as you'd like for a small fixed price. The whole process of aerating and tasting the different ciders is an experience in itself,...I would highly recommend.More

Astigarraga a small town near San Sebastian in northern Spain. Astigarraga has an interesting restaurant called Sidreria in Spanish that named Zapiain. You can eat standing in this restaurant. Zapiain has own apple wine called Sidra in Spanish. Sidra is a low alcoholic wine and...we liked it. They make bacalao fish omelette, then sauteed bacalao fish. Both of them are very delicious. You think that's all, No, they have huge veal cutlet that is enough for more than two person. And you have to try Idiazabal Cheese fresh and old. Zapiain is really distinctive restaurant. Most probably you will enjoy it. Be carefull while your sidra glass is being filled up. I think it will be a good half-day-trip to go for lunch Zapiain in mountain and green side of San Sebastian. If you have time go on from Zapiain to Donibane in the Bay of Pasaia. Have a sit in a restaurant, towards to the Bay, order a bottle of white wine Louro do Bolo or As Sortes Valdeorras with a full plate of berberechos, a kind of clams. Enjoy the day, we did the same.More
