I guess, that title of this review is telling enough ;-) Menu is simple, but different nearly every day, but what is most important food styling and quality are excellent. And team and owner, they are lovely ;-)
A really good place to eat or drink if you pass by Sasseta. They accepted us even if it was 31st of December for a late lunch and they were organizing an event for the night. The wines and the foods were really good and...the lady was so nice and friendly.More
Sassetta's Bar Roma is a unique gem in the Tuscan countryside. Where meals are usually ranked for heartiness and meatiness, chef-proprietors Erika and Simone offer a 'piccola cucina mediterranea'; a reassuringly short menu providing adequate choice of anitipasti, pastas and a couple of main (secondi)...dishes, all sourced locally, freshly and imaginatively prepared and cooked in the small kitchen. They will tweak their unusual and exquisite antipasto plate to keep it vegetarian if you ask, and pastas usually include vegetarian versions. It's excellent - a small, informal cafe-restaurant in a modest but lovely setting. If you are looking for pizza platters, paunchy pastas or beefy burgers, Bar Roma is not for you, I'm glad to say.More
We stayed in Sassetta and read good reviews of Roma so we booked dinner and sat under the trees enjoying the fabulous views.
There is no menu so choosing a meal did prove a little difficult. We requested white wine which we understood wasn’t available...as a carafe, although we noticed others later did. No bread was offered, but Italians were delivered a huge basket of mixed breads.
The starter was a mix of meats, cheeses and salad ice cream, which was okay. My husband had duck which he really enjoyed but my pasta was stuffed with mushrooms and ricotta but was so tuff I couldn’t cut it, so that was a disappointment.
Our lack of Italian to be fair was a barrier but there is no excuse for poorly cooked pasta. We didn’t return.More
We stumbled upon this restaurant while taking a drive up into the Tuscan countryside. Sassetta is a gorgeous little town and Roma was a great find. The chef explained that he didn’t have a menu but just offered what he had cooked for the day....We both had ravioli, mine with a mushroom sauce and my husband with ragu sauce. The mushroom was particularly outstanding.
The restaurant had a nice breeze on what was a scorching hot day, and we even managed to get seats with a beautiful view.More
It wasn't my first time to this fabulous place but each time it surprises me with the wonderful dishes that are served from the entrèe to the dessert and coffee with of course the digestive. We had friends and family who were visiting Tuscany for...a couple of weeks and decided to have a get together and enjoy the delicacies of the local food. It is not surprising that there isn't a set menu (therefore no prices available each day) because the kitchen works with products which are available each day therefore offering a well balanced meal which is fresh and delicious. It is truly a gastronomical experience each time all accompanied by excellent wines. Prices are more than adequate considering the quality. Thank you Simone and staff for putting so much effort in making each occasion at your restaurant an amazing experience.More
We where looking for lunch in the small town of Sassetta. We found this place, the waiter were really friendly and explained the lunch menu for uns - it where basically three types of pasta and three sauces you can choose from. We where really...happy with our choice gnocchi and spaghetti with Ragu and truffel. The price from 10-12€ per Portions where totally fine!More
You might think Bar Roma is one of the thousands average bars with the same name around the peninsula, the opposite is correct. An outstanding location with a great cuisine (few dishes, but that's even better) and good wines. Employees work passionately and tell you...every secret of their local slow food knowledge. A special thanks to Debora, Simone and Edoardo for being such a positive and nice people. I definitely recommend this place to any food lover as I am. :)More
