Visited this place after walking an 8 mile circular around kinder scout. Jane greeted us and assisted us to our table. She advised on the menu options including gf options for one of our party. We all felt like we were with old friends. The food was delicious, well presented and healthy portions. Good value for money as we all... More

We ate here on two consecutive evenings and were not disappointed. I and my friends can vouch for the salmon, steak, chicken curry and burgers. Service was just right. Very friendly place. Altogether brilliant.

Last time I reviewed it just as a pub because I didn't eat there but since then I've eaten in there several times and I can honestly say the food is really really good with a huge emphasis on everything being home-made. Had a chat with the owner who is also the chef here, told me everything is homemade including... More

The staff were great - just super helpful! My wife is a Vegetarian and she had the Nut roast on the Sunday. The manageress was really nice and spoke to us. Really lovely place and great atmosphere. Highly recommend.

We stopped at the pub for a drink and decided to eat there. We had not booked a table, it was about half five on a Saturday evening and the place was quite busy with a lot of tables already reserved. The owner/manager managed to fit us in, she took our order and told us that there may be a... More

Me and my family love it at the sportsman! It is a fantastic cosy pub which allows your dogs. We have been quite a few times now and every time the service is friendly, personal and the food is always brilliant. The portion sizes are also nice and big so you will always leave full and happy.

Four of us had an evening meal on Sunday 16th Oct, very pleasantly surprised about the comprehensive menu and the baked goats cheese starter was absolutly fantastic. The rest of the meal also did impress and the staff were helpful and friendy and especially as the chef came out to check that everything was ok, not often that happens!! Can... More

A friend and I were walking for a couple of days in the Peak District and had supper here. The food was well-cooked and tasty; the service efficient and friendly. Just what you needed after a day in the mountains.
