It was extremely busy and food did take time to arrive, our waitress, Raschelle, did communicate that there was a delay, she was very friendly and did try her very best to relieve the stressful situation, when the food arrived it was tasty. Lovely views and very friendly staff considering the enormous amount of pressure. We will be back.

Delightful, tasty breakfast. There are a few seating options; outside, on the stoep, inside and on the deck with it's canvas sides. There are quite a few stairs to climb so bare that in mind if you are taking friends or family that might struggle with stairs. The garden setting outside and the spectacular views over the Durbanville Valley and... More

My husband and I took a risk by turning up on a Sunday without a booking but managed to get a table outside. Several were ear-marked with cute chalkboard hearts naming the parties who had had the foresight to reserve a table. Quite a windy spot but a fantastic view. We did have to wait quite a long time to... More

The Brioche Spent Malt bread is definitely a taste experience that had to be tried. It rounds off the usual bacon and eggs breakfast very well. The views both from the restaurant and gardens are nothing short of stunning. If you're there on a windless day, try to get an outside table. And stay for beer pairings!

The food is on a high standard, you pay a bit more but it is worth it. They do a cannon firing every now and again. The view from there is amazing.

Lovely views over Durbanville. Food is really nice. Pizzas are very thin crust and delicious. The service is rather slow though, and they easily get orders wrong. Staff like standing around. They are also not huge on information about the actual restaurant. We asked about the opening times, and the guy was like a 'no care' attitude, and said he... More

What a pleasant Saturday spent at Signal Gun wine estate! We started with a craft beer tasting. You can sit on chairs, benches, cushions on the ground or bath tub seats! We moved in to the restaurant where we enjoyed pizza. The 1st Saturday of the month there is a canon firing ceremony, with a very interesting talk about the... More

We visited the Ke-Monate restaurant on the Signal Gun Farm in the Durbanville Winelands. Reservation for a couple on a Friday afternoon in mid-January 2017. They open until 6pm on Fridays. I would put this as one of my top 3 spots on the Durbanville wine route (we're locals so we know the route well). On Signal Gun winefarm is... More

Ke-monate is in a great spot love the setting, the food and friendly staff but each time I go it seems the staff are all over the place and can't keep up. I am patient when I have a great view and glass of wine but when people around you are moaning it causes the experience to be unpleasant.

Description
Our Bistro is all about eating great food and enjoying a selection of our very own Signal Gun wines along with superb wines from Durbanville Wine Valley, which is sure to satisfy all tastes.

Ke-monate is a Sotho word meaning 'dis lekker' or 'that's nice'. Why Sotho... Well our mother, Elmi de Wit grew up in the Freestate and the first language she could speak was Sotho and she speaks it fluently up to today. The vineyards surrounding Ke-monate is owned by our father WRM de Wit, who enjoys restoring old canons.
