I came for lunch on a quiet Saturday at the start of December. The service was attentive and friendly. Somewhat surprisingly, our waiter was Indian. I couldn't resist asking how he'd found his way into a small town in the Alpes-Maritimes. He said he'd been...to hotel-restaurant school in India; his school had an exchange-internship in France; he came and never returned. Not that long ago his story would have been impossible, but the world grows smaller every day. I had the Plat du Jour, a steak with green peppercorn sauce. It was served with pommes dauphinaus (sliced potatoes cooked in cream and cheese) and with braised endives. All very traditional and very well prepared. I ordered a half-bottle of the house red, which was good but not exceptional. The enclosed terrace was very pleasant, with flowers everywhere. As noted, the service was friendly and spoke both French and English. I had heard that the restaurant is considered -- for towns all around the area -- the best in the area. Judged as the best for a corner of France, it was just slightly disappointing. Judge as a pleasant and professionally run place serving well prepared traditional French food in an attractive atmsophere, it was not disapointing at all. Very Enjoyable.More
