The Anse Vacoa is a small resort where you can rent cosy wooden chalets spread over a tropical garden. The restaurant serves dinner only twice a week, on Fridays and Saturdays. We bumped in there occasionally doing a little walk on the first day of...our stay in Petite Ile. And we didn't regret it. We were guided to our table outside on the terrace by the most friendly waitress I ever met (forgot her name unfortunately). Always smiling and loughing she was a great company troughout the evening. We started as almost always with a couple of "Samoussas" (they were that good we ordered a second round), followed by grilled swordfish with rice, potatoes and the indispensable brown beans. The food was nothing extraordinary, but good. It was also the first time we got in touch with the local beer, called Tropical, or Dodo, a faithful companion the following two weeks.More

The restaurant is very good. Though located in a not very commercial area the good qualities of everything regarding that place is an outstanding fact. The area concerned is called “Grand Anse” which is also the name of a beautiful beach not far from the...restaurant. This consists mainly of a room and a terrace. By the time I was there the meals were served only on the latter. It’s a nice and spacious terrace where one can have a pleasant moment at any time of the day thus both for lunch and for dinner. Various types of cuisine are offered at the restaurant concerned. There one can find the authentic Creole cuisine but also at least Chinese and French ones. The food is very good and tasty and the dishes are cooked with much care and professionalism. Both fish and meat courses are of an excellent quality. I went there four times during my stay in the Reunion Island. That’s why I can make the previous affirmation with no room for doubt. Once for instance I had “sanglier” (meat) and another one “poisson persillé” (fish) and every time I enjoyed the meals very much. The staff members are very efficient and kind. Vanessa, the manageress who also attends the customers, is indeed affable and helpful as well as witty. In the evening there is usually a lovely lady named Lucille, a charming person with whom it’s a pleasure to talk and deal with. Therefore, that restaurant is of course a very recommendable place to have a meal on the Reunion Island. Sitting on its terrace contemplating the landscape and enjoying a tasteful meal is indeed an unforgettable experience. One ought to be aware of the fact that in the evening it’s just open on Fridays and Saturdays and that Monday is the staff’s day off. The rest of the week it’s open for lunch.More
