Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Vaughan's Pub is a little gem in a gorgeous part of the world. Lovely staff and great food - I strong recommend that you go there when you are ravenous as you will want to finish every morsel on your plate. A must for Father...Ted fans and anyone touring this beautiful part of County Clare.More

My daughter had her wedding here and it was perfect! Patrick did a phenomenal job with organizing the event. The wedding party stayed at the house and were impressed with the friendliness of the staff and the food. The wedding dinner was outstanding! The timing...was spot on and the food was delicious. It was one of the best weddings I’ve ever attended! Everyone had fun. Thank you, Patrick!More

We visited just as Ireland was on the cusp of going into lockdown back in March. We'd called in mid-afternoon in the hope that they were still serving food. They were! They only had Irish Stew left but that was fine - it was delicious!...Our host (before he clocked off at 4pm) was in a rather surely mood - I liked him! He was bemoaning the hell that was about to before us all - he'd spoken to 'intelligent people' who had forewarned him! In fairness knowing what we now know, he and his 'expert' friend were spot on! The highlight of our brief stay apart from our excellent meal was when a hen party arrived from near Dublin which completely threw him! I presumed that they had just rocked up with no warning expecting food hence his now increased level of grumpiness but no! They had booked, but he had just presumed that they wouldn't turn up due to the quickly changing circumstances of the time. 'Had you not called ahead to check' I asked? No, he said - he just presumed they wouldn't turn up!! But they did and they were fortunate to have some delicious irish stew leftover for them! I never caught his name but he seemed to inhabit the spirit of Father Ted which famously was fllmed for one of the episodes in Vaughan's (or maybe he was just chanelling his inner Victor Meldrew who played himself in one of the Father Ted episodes!!). Either way, a memorable visit!!More

I was at a family wedding at Vaughan’s Pub in Kilfenora in September 2018 and I must say it was spectacular 😍 The pub itself is fabulous but there’s a barn converted into a wedding reception next to the bar and it is so comfortable...and spacious in there 👰. The food is amazing in there and flip flops are provided if you forget to bring flats 👠 . Highly recommend ‼️More

We were recommended to come for lunch whilst having a days sightseeing around the burren. The receptionist at our hotel had told us that the food was brilliant. The pub is very trad and filled with father ted and other interesting memorabilia but was rather...chilly on this wet February day and a bit grubby in places. We were greeted by a very nice and friendly woman behind the bar who, when we asked for menus, told us that there was beef and Guinness stew with mash or bacon and cabbage. We ordered one of each and took a seat by the wood burning stove. The food was good, piping hot and tasty. I thought it was a little on the pricey side at over thirty euros with two small soft drinks. It was a fun lunch though.More

We came to Kilfenora to find out information about my family. In walking around the village we came across Vaughan's Pub. We stopped for tea but then there was a Guiness and an apple pie. The pub itself was wonderful. The service very good. It...was part of a journey to find ones self. Very good experience.More

Where to start...I cannot say enough good things about Mark & Orla @ Vaughan's Pub! We flew in from the U.S. to have our wedding reception there this past June. We did not have a Day of Coordinator for the wedding but, Mark stepped right...in and made sure that everything at the venue went smoothly. I never felt like I was bothersome or overwhelmed, it all just seemed to happen seamlessly. The beef dinner was delicious and our guests are still raving about the quality of the salmon filets. The reception dinner decorations were beautiful. I just had to show a couple of Vaughan's employees what I was thinking for the table decor and then they set it all up for me while I was preparing for the wedding. When all of our guests moved to the dance floor promptly after dinner, Mark made the call to move the cake into the that area so that our cake cutting was a focal point for our guests, very thoughtful. Orla made sure all of our guests were happy and had plenty of coffee and food in the am. They really made our group feel like family. I have been to plenty of weddings and I have never experienced such kind and welcoming venue hosts. They made us feel comfortable and supported and we never felt like a burden or like we were asking for too much (which I know can happen to some couples with their venues here in America). I would highly recommend Vaughan's and my husband and I can not wait to visit for our anniversary.More

Mark and his team were so very welcoming, calm and nothing was too much bother. He gave brilliant ‘inside’ advise on what to and what not to do and ensured that we would have the best get together with long lost family. Food was tasty...and huge in portion. He then served up the wedding cake for dessert with tea and coffee to follow. The service was polite, friendly and we didn’t feel rushed at all. We weren’t in the barn but the room to the side of the pub bar. It was just right for having privacy for speeches etc but near enough to the all important bar. We also couldn’t hear a thing from the function in the barn. Thank you again Mark, my parents loved it which was the most important thing at the end of the day.More

Vaughans, they know how to throw a party. Mark and his staff were so excellent to us, from the moment we arrived with our 40 wedding guests. Mark put us at ease right away. Him and his staff were on top of all of our...drinking needs (which were plentiful). The food was hot and fresh, I am particularly partial towards the seafood chowder and beef and Guinness stew. The cake was decorated just as we had envisioned and tasted delightful. I didn’t even mention the array of dessert cheese cakes which were exquisite. And of course the decorations were done in a beautiful and classy manner. Mark even stepped up to enhance the dancing & music situation and we could have stayed there all night. Highly recommend them for a fun event, party, wedding, or just a stop in to the pub or restaurant!More

We stopped off here on the way from the Cliffs of Moher to grab a bite to eat. Food was excellent and the staff super friendly. We had the Beef and Guinness Stew which was really great (cold rainy, windy day - perfect for stew)....The mashed spuds which was served with the stew was so tasty - really creamy, best I've had in a long time. The pint of Guinness gets a 10/10. One of the girls had the beef lasagne and the other the fish. Both cleaned their plates. The fish was fresh and cooked perfect. They (staff) made a bit of a fuss over the kids and we had a great time. The place featured in an episode of the Irish Comedy series 'Fr Ted'. The owner was really helpful on finding local places of interest and directions. Vaughans is a local pub and not a tourist themed trap - it is the real deal as far as an Irish pub should be in looks and management. It has a very good reputation and is famous far and wide the length and breath of the land. There was a nice display of the Pubs participation on the Fr Ted episode and a lovely set of photos on the wall depicting Vaughans Sheep sales c '71-'98.More

We visited Vaughan’s Pub after we explored the Cliffs of Moher and this was some of the best food we had on our trip to Ireland. Mark welcomed us in and took our orders, what a funny guy! They treated us like family and the...food was spectacular. Most of us got the Beef and Guinness Stew or the Fish and Chips, both were phenomenal. Some of the younger people in the party got the hot ham sandwich or the seafood chowder, both were great was well. We were traveling with a vegetarian and she got a grilled cheese and enjoyed it! The chips came with most of the meals and were very fresh.More

I have loved every perfectly cooked thing I have had here. I do not like tarter sauce but their homemade is to die for and good enough to make me eat fried fish....cooked to perfection as well. The salmon with samphire was off the charts...as well. A definite stop for us on every trip.More
