Superb restaurant, only when inside do you realize how big the place is. Great location in a rural village outside of Segovia. Professional and attentive staff. We rated it 9/10 and great value with a superb bottle of Muga red wine. The only things lacking...were: 1. The starters are big, too much for 3 people sharing 3 plates! 2. The incredibly good cochinillo is delivered and served at the table, excellent. However, no sides are served at all and the waiter should make you aware of this when ordering. Too late once it has arrived. At €132 for : people with a superb bottle of red we thought it was very good value for money and will return each time we are in the area.More

We recently took my in-laws to this restaurant for some cochinillo. My father-in-law is allergic to gluten and lactose and our waiter was so patient with us in explaining what he could eat on the menu. They even gave him a gluten free baguette which...must have been excellent because when they offered to bring him a second one, he enthusiastically agreed. We were lucky enough to have a table out in the garden which was a perfect setting for a nice, relaxing lunch. The service here is top notch. Our waiter did an excellent job guiding us through the menu and made very good recommendations. He even told us that he thought we had ordered too many appetizers and steered us to a different (and less expensive) wine that he thought paired better with our cochinillo. We’ve had cochinillo a number of times in Segovia and the cochinillo here was definitely the best. Reservations are recommended.More

We had the best food quality, and the waiter Fernando was just excellent. A fantastic meal out with the family. The cochinillo was delicious and the salmorejo and boletus were just amazing. Highly recomended. The ride from Madrid was totally worth it!

Came here las weekend with my family, really liked the place (is warm and nice) cochinillo is delicious and we tried the castellana soup. This restaurant is 5 min away from Segovia and offers great service and better prices and it is not as touristic...as having cochinillo in Segovia.More

My wife and I along with my cousin who lives in Madrid visited on our way to Segovia. I must say the experience was fabulous from the start to end. As you enter, you are offered to try “chicharrones”, and every single waiter is smiling...and says Hi. We had the fried vegetables and El Cochinillo. ExquisiteMore

This is a very Spanish restaurant and was full of Spanish having lunch. We were made very welcome by the attentive staff shown to our seats and the menus replaced with menus in English. The specials here are lamb and suckling pig both of which...need to be ordered the night before. There is more on the menu but almost everyone had pig or lamb and on tasting we soon knew why. The food here is outstanding fron starters to dessert. The dunlea family corkMore

MUST ...... to have dinner at La Portada de Mediodia. Its a very romantic restaurant; elegant decoration, good services, and very very good fusion cuisine. If you are not to stay in Torrecaballeros, only driving 15mins from Segovia. Parking is not a problem.

Visited La Portada for the first time with local friends. The food, service and ambience was excellent. We had the suckling pig, fried vegetables and white bean soup. Despite the heat, the large high ceilings rooms were very cool and welcome. Highly recommend.

La Portada del Mediodía is one of these places which locals recommend, clearly making a quality distinction and stating that "this is a quality place where we locals go". Had lunch there several times, latest this month. Great starters, many of them original, outstanding cooking...for the 2nd dishes, including the so well appreciated "cordero asado" and "cochinillo". Nice wine list and nice guidance, going for the quality wines over the expensive ones.More

Built in the 16th centuries and beautifully restored this is a wonderful place to try the cooking of the Spanish Sierras. Roast Suckling Pig or Roast Lamb. Take your pick. Very interesting fresh roasted vegetables. Great desserts. Excellent wine. Afterwards you'll need to walk ourside...and look at the snow up on the mountain tops and see the flowers starting to bloom in April and just walk to digest the magnificent meal.More
