If you are a big fan of either suckling pig or lamb, this is the place to go. Both are cooked in an Arabic wood fired oven for three hours, in nothing other than the meat itself. We had lamb and suckling pig as a...main with morcilla (black pudding) and flash fried slices of onion in flour which were both full of flavour. Washed down with some red wine from Ribera del Duero, it was a great meal.More

Don’t miss the opportunity to visit this restaurant. The suckling pig was absolutely delicious. Incredible flavour, juicy and succulent. The waiter mentioned that they get their suckling pigs from a particular farm where they are well-bred ie taken care of and fed well. The service...and friendliness of the staff was great as well. A meal we will always remember and we hope to return.More

After reading other reviews we decided to try this pet friendly hotel on our long drive down from Bilbao ferry north Spain to Malaga southern Spain. The roads were very good, fast & countryside scenery wonderful. The hotel was not particularly easy to find &...Sat Nav was really no help at all, however once found the rustic style of hotel is charming & appeared promising. We had slightly upgraded our room to a double with terrace & it was definitely worth doing this. Even though our room was on 1st floor the terrace was large & safely enclosed for our dog. The view from our terrace was quite stunnning & you could see for miles. The double room was large and also had sofa area. Bathroom good size also. Nice, well maintained gardens to walk our dog round. We had booked a table in the restaurant for dinner that evening only to be told as we sat down & were handed the menu there was no pork or lamb available at all - somewhat bizarre as it left little other choice really. The restaurant has a mitchelin sticker on the window but no evidence of this standard evident to us tonight at all. The restaurant supposedly has a reputation for wood oven cooked meats & as we had looked online prior but not tonight clearly. Things did not improve - my salmon & avocado salad was made up of overly large chewy chunks of salmon, my husband faired better with foie & fig salad but both salads were much too large for one person. I ordered beef tacos which turned out to be beef kebabs but although the beef was tasty it was just too chewy. My husband had ox meat which was actually a tasty & tender piece of fillet but despite asking for it to be well cooked it was served quite rare & we had to return it to kitchen for more cooking by which time I had finished my meal! The Spanish do not like to cook beef well done we know. We had no dessert so for 1 bottle of water, 4 glasses of wine & 2 salad starters & 2 mains our meal came to total of 101 euros which felt overpriced. Also in a 4 star hotel restaurant in what is a beautiful old room I definitely did not like listening to the radio on very loudly in the kitchen - destroyed any ambience or quality & whole evening was an anti climax sadly. We will not be returning to this hotel even though our room was good as our experience in the restaurant completely let the place down. Restaurant promised much but just didn’t deliver to us.More

It was about time that I visited this place, my wife had already been at least three times before. According to her, it's the place for "the best croquettes in the world", which is pretty daring to say since hers are really delicious. To my...surprise (well, maybe not that much), she was right! Everything we ate was just unbeatable: croquettes, "huevos rotos", tomato salad (how tasty!), "migas"... A really enjoyable experience in a sunny terrace. Kids can play safely outside, too. The place is crowded, you need to book in advance.More

It is a must if you are vising Segovia. It has a variety of local dishes, but in my opinion their "cordero asado" (wooden oven rosted lamb) is simply extraordinary, it has the correct amount of salt and it is tasty to the point that...you will salivate only ny recalling it. The service is outstanding, the food comes fast, the waitresses have a complete understanding of the menu and it makes choosing so much easier. A great experience. If you go, don't leave without trying the lamb.More

We went to El Rancho on a Sunday of a long weekend. The place was so packed, parking was hard to find. Bear in mind this is a rural setting. Absolutely no problem servicewise. Our food came in a timely manner. Service was flawless. Cochinillo...is an experience more than a meal. Although not an expert, I relied on the chef in our group. She declared it to be perfect. As far as I am concerned, it was outstanding. This is the kind of place that is worth the trip to repeat. We pledged to that on our next Madrid visit.More

Sat in outside area. Nice tapas. They don't speak English. Hard to get someone's attention at first, but in the end, the service was good.
