We have had enjoyable lunches on the slopes a few times there but never dinner so we went. Again like all things Taos in snow, there are some climbs and obstacles to overcome so ride your 4-wheel to get there. The ambience at night is similarly "Bavarian". It is casual attire as well. The menu is a variation on the... More

As a long time Taos skier it was great to close out the season and enjoy the deck and atmosphere at the Bavarian. Thomas and his staff are great and the views and crowd and are awesome. Nothing like it

Tasty food for lunch during an active day of skiing. But the Spaetzle & Sausage wasn't enough food -- I was still hungry and couldn't find a waitress to bring more food, so finally gave up and went back to skiing, hungrily. Seems like a better choice on low-exertion days. A nice patio environment, but the blaring 70's rock music... More

I happened to have lunch there with a friend who has German roots and she was surprised by the authenticity. It was a great meal that helped you keep going for an afternoon back on the slopes. And the great beers didn't hurt either! We have gone there for dinner too when we weren't skiing and it was just as... More

The Bavarian came highly recommended, and we found out why really fast! It is such a lovely atmosphere inside for dinner, and the deck is fabulous during the day. They serve some of the best German food I've ever had, and extremely generous portions. The Sauerbraten (beef roast) was absolutely the best beef stew I've ever tasted! Excellent service and... Going to a German restaurant in Taos made me think thank it would be something hokey, but it was genuine and delicious! It is up the mountain and you need to arrange for them to shuttle you there- don't try driving on your own! It's not your typical ski resort type food, it was a pleasant surprise for us!

They need to improve the ordering process. Charge by the person serve by the person or charge by the couple serve by the couple. Our waitress was new to the restaurant and was charming. However the menu was not helpful. The food is good. And I am serious about a great salad. The desert is also wonderful. I would move... More

We arrived 6 minutes after they stop serving lunch. They have a two hour change over between lunch and dinner and only offer goulasche soupa and pretzels during this time. The four of us ordered a cup of the soupa and pretzels. My daughter wanted cheese with the pretzel and they brought out a scoop of some kind of cheese... More

What a wonderful time we had eating here for lunch. My two brothers and I kicked back one day with a beer and shared a plate of sausages ($20 and a lot of food for one). Another time was just huge Bavarian pretzels for $4.25 or so and some water. Checked out the locals who were checking out the travelers... More

One party order the snitzel. Two others ordered burgers. Both were excellent. They have a good variety of beer options. You have to love the native German Bavarian dress code, even in winter.
