been here a few times, it has a really nice ambience and good food, took some friends there recently from the UK and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. There's always parrots outside at the bird feeder and the garden area is lovely, it's like a little oasis in busy Sassafras. I will come again as I have never been disappointed... More

The food and the choice of menu was excellent. My friend has unusual dietary requirements and was able to choose from several items on the menu. Service was excellent as was the food

The place is light, airy and spacious. There is indoor and outdoor seating plus an indoor area with a perspex roof to let the sun in. That's where we sat and we enjoyed it. The staff were smiley and competent. I didn't give full 5 stars as the chicken I ordered was quite dry. But my salad was tasty and... More

My family enjoys driving up the hills on weekends weather-permitting, and Sassafras is one destination we've grown to associate with the word "cozy and relaxing". Fortnums is one of the classy looking restos around here. Spent lunch at Fortnums in October 2016 and ordered seafood and beef pot pie for mains. We don't really mind spending a little for a... We popped in for a coffee on a Sunday, the place was buzzing, had a great vibe. We met the owners, saw their kids working there and enjoyed the coffee. We were welcome nicely on entry, service was friendly and professional. Great place to take it all in.

We celebrated a birthday at Fortnums in a separate little building away from the main restaurant. The setting was really lovely as you walked a small distance through a windy path to a private little cottage with great views. Service, location and atmosphere were fabulous.

Spent this Sunday lunch at Fortnums Restaurant, Sassafras on Mount Dandenong Tourist Road. The restaurant is light and nicely presented. It was a little stuffy inside due the cooking fumes and smell. We sat outside on the deck in the sun even though it was very windy. The service was very attentive and professional. The garlic bread was excellent- possibly the... More

After visiting Fortnums for a meal by chance in 2010 when we couldn't get a table at nearby Miss Marples Tea Rooms, we have been back at least another eight times. Why? Because we can't fault it. The menu is not elaborate but quite a good blend of traditional English and Australian favourites, served in a home cooked style. Not... More

Fortnums is a pretty restaurant in a delightful setting in the popular Dandenongs town of Sassafrass. The menu with its added daily specials, gives a diverse choice and I decided on the Ploughman's. lunch and my husband had the chicken and corn pie. Not cheap, but very good. What a huge display of meats, cheese, anti pasta and a delicious,... More

We were a party of four, with one of us having a problem eating anything peppery or spicy. The waitress consulted the chef and were brilliant in their advice and suggestions in this regard. We all choose different meals and they were all excellent. The waitress was extremely helpful and attentive. We are planning to return in the very near... More
