We had our wedding meal here on 22nd October and it was 1st class. The food was amazing and plenty of it! Everyone got their food at the same time and it was hot and fresh! The staff were warm and friendly and the table dressed beautifully! Thank you to the prince of Wales Ampthill for helping make our wedding... More

It was a cold, sleety day and the pub provided everything needed for a half way stop on our walk. Lovely fire, comfy leather sofa beside it, friendly welcome to us including the dog, excellent chips (proper ones cooked from fresh, nice and digestible) and a little chat with other drinkers and the staff. Altogether a nice ambience - we'll... More

Great service from Maz our waitress, lovely ambience! Food was fab! We had only a sandwich as a light lunch but jammed packed, great choice of fillings and unusual choices. Much better than the normal pub choices. Chips were lovely and chunky and crisp!

Great food on new year's Eve and a nice atmosphere. Well done to the team working from the chef to the serving staff. Thanks very much

Food was very poor. Complained and overheard the owner be rude about us. Better food on a burger van. Stay away. Other restaurants in Ampthill are fab in comparison.

If you thought Faulty Towers was bad, this was worst!. Went there for a 70th Birthday celebration tonight and I wished I stayed at home! Poor waitress service, waitresses not knowing the difference between a fillet steak and a sirloin steak, extremely long wait between courses, rude management and very over priced for what you get!! I ordered a 8oz... More

I decided to try this pub for a celebration meal, The only thing i was a little disappointed about was the long waits In Between. Also I had pâté for my starter and there was a small amounts of Pate for large amounts of bread little bit wasteful. Also the sausage and mash was good as the gravy was nice... More

Given the catchment area, Ampthill residents should be spoiled for choice when it comes to great places to eat and meet. This is probably the best in terms of the balance of good, home cooked fare (of the with chips variety), decent range of beers and lagers, decent wine list, nice surrounds inside and out and convivial service with a... Celebrated our wedding anniversary last week. Happened to be steak night. I had a fillet with a sauce, my wife had sea bass. Both were well cooked and very well presented. We had a cheeky whitebait to share as a starter which was just right. For dessert we had a cheesecake because the syrup pudding had run out! Good atmosphere,... More

My wife and I went for a birthday lunch a few days ago and will not be hurrying back! How can I begin. It was awful! First after finding a table that we preferred, and not where the waiter would put us, the general cleanliness was not what we would expect for the prices charged. The decor is badly in... More
