Best traditional restaurant on the northern side of Chopok

Great place! Nice staff, cozy indoor premisses, nice nature and view outside. We came here twice during our 4day stay and would definitely come back if we stayed longer. The food was always excellent: we had strapacky (pasta) with sour cabbage and pork meat, cottage cheese dumplings with blueberry sauce, cottage cheese raviolli and my favourite their bean soup!!! They also have good lemonades, palinkas (definitely have some if you are in slovakia) and just good vibes with good food. What more can u ask for in the mountains?🤔 As surprising as it might look from the outside this place is the one you want to visit to try traditional food and eat it in a traditional environment. Prices are avergae for the location. For Slovakia it is more than the normal prices, but you gotta take into consideration that you are in the mountains and a tourist destination. Its around 10€ for a main dish, 5€ for soups and the portions are very decent. Anyway, thank you for the experience and we will be back.

Cosy little restaurant

We visited here on a family ski holiday and the restaurant kindly accommodated us at short notice. It was great to taste authentic Slovak cuisine and was very tasty. Only let down was there wasn't a children's menu, they did allow half portions but kids didn't like a lot of the food. Also we had to wait a while for meal clean up but they were prepping for a large party. If you want tradition and cosy lodge this is the place to go.

Cozy place, awesome food and service

This is a really nice and cozy place to sit and have a great meal in after a walk in the cold winter weather. The staff is respectful, their English is really good and the place reminds me of a small tavern where you go to rest for a bit on your trip. The food was amazing, I had the soup of the day (which was the best mushroom soup I’ve ever had) and a portion of pancakes with poppy seeds and plum jam (deliriously delicious).

Very delicious and cozy place!!

We were there two times and every time the food was veeery good. You can feel that there are very fresh, local and good quality products. Koliba is more expensive than other places in the valley but it is a good place to sit for one night and eat a dinner in a cozy place. You need to remember about a reservation (especially on Fridays or Saturdays because it is full of people)

Great quality of food for good amount of money. One of the best places where to eat around Slovakia.

We have been all around the world, but this restaurant is one of the best where i ever eat. Food are in a big portions and look very detailed and when you taste it it is just delicious as well. Services were nice, quick and humble. This restaurant is hidden in the mountains and you wouldn't tell from outside that is one of the best. The restaurant look like cottage but it is authentic to Slovakia mountains, nothing fancy. But don't look outside and go and try their food, its just delicious and you wouldn't complain. RECOMMEND.

Nice place to warm up in winter

We just checked the closet place to our hotel. They have big portions you can hardly finish. Chicken was tasty but this big piece of meat is enough for two people. The owner of the restaurant was all the time asking if everything is fine and tasty. They don't have menu in English but we somehow understand each other. People sometimes are coming here to drink some beer or tea near fireplace.

So good that we returned back

We have visited this place two times and each time the restaurant was almost full. The offer is good and service fast. All food we had tried in this restaurant was very tasty so we can recommend the visit. We will return back again too.

Perfect traditional experience. Although at first it was hard to comunicate, through english, everything that followed was nice. Servixe was prompt, food was delicious, both taste and quantity, also very good prices. Overall very good experience. Higly recommend.

Amazing Food

Text them for reservation, as no English on phone, amazing food and very nice environment and warm, we had use google translate for menu translation, maybe they should print English menu. But service and food was amazing and waitress spoke English. At end of service they offered us free fridge magnet which is a nice touch to end meal get free gift.

The best cabbage soup!

We arrived at the hut an hour before closing, so the menu was already somewhat limited. Even so, everyone got something. If you have a busy schedule and know that you will have dinner here quite late like we did, I recommend calling the cabin and warning them of your late arrival. Especially if more of you come. They have a limited number of servings in the kitchen. The soups were excellent! The main meal we only had were bryndza pies and potato loks, which were really worth it! The food was homemade, freshly made. It was one of the best evenings we had in the Low Tatras.

If you are looking for a great traditional Slovakian restaurant you definitely have to visit Slovenska Koliba. Chopok is my favorite mountain so after mamy years I know a lot od restaurants in this area. In my opiniom they are the best. Great food, great service and a real chef.

A small hut in the middle of nature. Very pleasant interior, great service. It offers traditional Slovak cuisine. The only thing that didn't excite me was the unconventional concept of bryndza pies - sheep's yogurt was used instead of fried bacon and onions and instead of topped with bryndza. This combination did not excite me at all.

A refreshing lodge at the Low Tatras

It’s worth a visit just for the atmosphere.. by the way the meals are fantastic too. You have to think ahead ig you would like to enjoy the Slovakian hospitality. This place is always full make your reservation in time.

The food is amazing! Very nice waiters, finally some people who speak English. The atmosphere is pleasant, there was nice live music when we were there. I suggest to make a reservation ahead as the place is quite popular.

Best place in the area

Awesome place. Very good food, smiling and energetic staff, cool owner/shef. Worth to book a place though even when we dropped by without a booking, the staff always managed to find a place for us. Try makove sulance and gulash.
