After a cold walk on Long strand beach it was straight into The Fish Basket. We were lucky to get a seat inside where we enjoyed our fish & chips. Lovely friendly staff, nice atmosphere too. Yummy!

Took a wrong turn heading back to get lunch and passed by this spot. Saw the lots of people sitting outside to figured it must be popular. Situated at the end of a very typical picturesque Wild Atlantic West Cork beach. With the Castlefreke forest...area nearby as well as the ruins of Rathbury Church. So an ideal place for a well deserved reward after some outdoor activities. Lovely setting with outdoor picnic tables as well as indoor seating. Really friendly and helpful staff. The queuing/table beeper system was very efficient and the food was excellent. Some of the nicest battered fish and chips we've had in a long while. A very pleasant and unexpected surprise.More
There is always a que , wich speaks volumes , as the food is worth the wait , on a lovely day you can sit outside watching the ocean & tuck into some lovely fish & chips, I always make a point of visiting, on...my holidays. Beautiful, staff are lovely & helpful & assist with my dietary needs well done guys. A must for a lovely hearty takeawayMore
Ooh my... this is the freshest fresh fish and sea food! Huge portions. Very tasty. Nice outdoor seating area. Friendly staff. Highly recommended place to eat! If i live there i would eat their food every day!
They close at 6pm and the staff are very nice. The kid’s portion is very decent, the prawn scampi was very nice but the battered fish is delicious. The only issue is the packaging waste.. no option to properly recycle or reduce waste.
Really enjoyed the food at The Fish Basket. I would highly recommend the Hake and Chips…they were delicious! Portions are massive so there is a potential for sharing, dependant on how hungry you are.
Delicious fresh fish. Lovely setting over beach/seascape. Sail like covering sheltered us from Cork drizzle. Will be back even we have to queue again
Absolute gem of a restaurant! Amazing food, right on the beach. Crab salad was divine , kids had chickpea burgers & fish , all so tasty.
On hols in Baltimore, the family vacating a nearby cottage recommended this place so we stopped in after a long spell on inchydoney. Busy but not waiting long, first rate fish & chips, really as good as I've had anywhere, 10yr old son estatic about...his scampi. Food of this quality should be commonplace in tourist locations but unfortunately most places don't make the effort. As such this place should be supported and comes with a full endorsement from me & family. Well done!More
I would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody as I just had a most delicious fish 🐠 and chips with a gorgeous cappuccino and the value was just absolutely great, no doubt I will go back there soon
You have not had fish and chips until you try this place. Fabulous food great staff and if you have to wait in the queue the views are to die for
So I'm on a quest to find top class fish and chips at good value. Travelled over 40 miles to check this place out today. Myself and 3 kids. After a nice stroll on the beach we headed in. Greeted warmly by a nice girl...who took our order outside and organised a table for us. I ordered the fish and chips myself and was told there was lemon sole and haddock today. She told me I could have both, also ordered two kids fish and chips and the burger for the non fish eater. Seated promptly and when food came it was amazing. Lemon sole and haddock perfectly fresh and batter light and crispy. Kids meals really good too, they were delightful . Burger very tasty too. All for 37 euro. For me, this place is no. 1 for what it does. Followed by saltee in Kilmore Quay and monks Lane Timoleague. Keep up the good work guys and never leave the standards drop. We need these options along our coasts.More
Fabulous location, and outdoor seating to have a view of the beach. Perfrct for a summer day. Got the fish and chips and was fab. They have those cool buzzer things too, so when you order you wait outside, and when the buzzer vibrants, the...food is ready to collect. Fish and chips was very tasty and highly recommend a visit for the view and the food.More
We went there on Mother's day and it was fairly packed. I had to queue for an hour but it was well worth it. Probably the nicest (and freshest) fish and chips I have had in years. The fish sharing box is huge and even...the kids fish and chips is quite large and was devoured by my 10 year old. Staff were very friendly and I have to give a special mention to the coffee. Very tasty! We will definitely be back again.More
Horrendous, unorganised service. The guy "policing" the service is arrogant, rude and obnoxious. Improvements needed
