It seems really isolated from the main tourist routes, but is a boon to walkers. Good wholesome food in rural setting, with internal and garden seating. Well worth a visit.

An awesome location, great hospitality and fabulous food. What more could you want? Really cool café in the middle of nowhere. Something a bit different with Tahr and venison on the menu, along with the local smoked salmon. Add to the great food the friendly service from Hannah and her team, and you have all the elements for something a... More

Set in the bush with inside and outdoor seating, this cafe has good coffee and a moderate selection of healthy food. Outdoor fire and room for children to run round make it an excellent stop after the bush walk or trip to Salisbury Falls and bridge for a swim.

Nice coffee and slice. Pleasant folk style surroundings. Friendly staff. Somewhat remote, but that adds to the ambiance. Would like to try a lunch there next time.

We sent an email checking the cafe was open and got no reply. Due to the positive reviews we made the journey anyway and found a folksy set up. Walking in you get the feeling you have come to the wrong place, some young ladies with babies, a toddler on a bike, no one actually speaks to you or helps... More

Popped in for a quick coffee after a walk up the kaituna valley (to see the gold workings) and couldn't resist the amazing pies which had just come out of the oven. Crisp feathery pastry and the most melt in your mouth version cooked in red wine. Not to be missed!!!

We came here as a group of 6, ordered and found the service slow. The food on their menu is some what unusual but also has some traditional options. The food we received was average, certainly nothing to get excited about. And one of us even took their meal back because it was so underwhelming, they offered a half refund... More

what a great surprise when we got to the end of the shingle road and at the start of the kaituna walk was this cafe. The staff were over and above friendly, a great selection of local food, cakes, coffee and alcohol. Great outdoor area for those summer days. Highly recommended.

We arrived here after a trip to Wharariki Beach. The weather was not that great in order to get a good view. Unfortunately the café was average. Can tick it off my list but may not be back.

Hi there are you sure that it was not the farewell spit cafe that you went to for a view. As we are at the other side of Collingwood, in bush are. Thanks Hannah More
