Stopped by for a quick bite to eat and to say it was delicious is an understatement! The owner was very informative and stopped by to chat awhile. The food was beyond what you would expect. I am pretty sure this guy was a chef somewhere before landing here! Note bring cash no cards accepted.

This is a funky little road side cafe. It's not pristine but is rather rustic but fits in with the surroundings. Very limited menu but excellent food. Everything is prepared to order with locally grown fresh produce. The owner/chef is a very pleasant soul with lots of interesting stories so make sure you take the time to have a friendly... More

A hidden gem you must try if you're on hwy 270. We had the coconut water and smoothie that was delicious and so refreshing. Then Ren carved out the coconut flesh after we finished the coconut water so we had a snack for later.

We were driving back to the Gold Coast area after visiting the north end of the island. We passed this cute little roadside cafe'/stand advertising fresh coconut water and pulled over. It sounded refreshing to us! The proprietor came out and with his machete (or so it seemed) and he picked a coconut and whacked off the top of it,... More

First, I loved the food! If you are looking for formal dining, keep driving. If you want a personal, one of a kind experience, check this place out! All the food is fresh, produce comes locally, not from a store. Entrees served have a Mexican flair and vegetarian options are also available. Giant fresh coconuts are served with a biodegradable... I love this roadside cafe from the local sourced all fruit smoothies to the local grown avocado used in their guacamole. You can tell everything is made from scratch with love. The banana bread is some of the best I have ever had and during season the mango bread is delightful. Besides great Mexican food they offer a Mac nut... More

Stop on your way to or from Pololu Valley. Good place to get fresh squeezed fruit juice, smoothie, or coconut water straight from the nut. If you are hungry, they have excellent tamales! Closes 3:30 pm, so plan accordingly.

Hidden gem on route to Kohala Forest Reserve Pololu Valley where we were heading for a hike. The hub and I started off with a chicken tamale which was in its husk and sooo very flavorful with just the right amount of bite in it. Followed the tamale with a Macadamia nut veggie burger which I swear was the BEST... More

My husband & I had the best tamales, chicken & pork of our life !! They were very fresh and perfectly made. We also had 3 very good real fruit smoothie. Customer service was great, the sitting area is out door but cool and shaded.

We stopped at the Makapala Cafe on our way back from a like to Pololu Beach. The place is very very casual and was deserted when we stopped. The owner, tired of Chicago winters, greeted us warmly. The kids all ordered smoothies and said they were the best ever!

Thank tlgs
