Don't know about dinner, but for lunch, if you're looking for good solid basic cooking, nothing fancy, with reasonable prices and friendly folks, you can't go wrong here. Had a very nice lunch.

So called because across the street is the statue of King Kamehameha, in full regalia. A real quirky place serves pizzas, ice cream, salads. God bless the Hawaiians; they are so nice and friendly, they were really trying at this place but it was pleasant...chaos. You place your order then wait and they’ll bring it out to you. They were constantly walking around trying to find “Vince” or "Joe" or whoever. Then some poor local guy came in for his pizza order that he’d ordered online, and they didn’t have it. He waited for nearly 45 minutes. At times it is the only show in town, and the food was good, not sensational, but solid and again the people were so nice. Take your time, and enjoy it. Supposedly brick oven pizza. Good, not great.More

We stopped in on our way back from the Pololu Valley lookout for a late lunch. We’d checked on TA and the reviews were great. Walk in to the counter, order, pay and they bring the food to your table. Both ordered BLT’s, one toasted...and one on a croissant, and they were pretty good, lots of bacon, with potato salad on the side. Good sandwiches, good counter service, bright and clean surroundings. But, it could have been a sandwich anywhere. Well, that’s not quite true, as not everywhere has the second of only two statues of King Kamehameha across the road! Don’t hesitate to stop in here.More

While my wife and I like to stop for ice cream at places we travel, especially on a hot day this was totally a different type of experience. Sweet potato ice cream and it is purple. We have never seen it before but this small...Cafe had it. Right across the street from the Kamehameha statue, it is a great place to stop. The pricing wasn't bad at all.More

Friendly staff and custom lunch after some entertainment at the statue across the street. Prices were reasonable and we didn’t leave any scraps in spite of the generous helpings.

We stop at this cafe every time we come up to Hawi because it's always fresh and delicious. This trip we both had Mahi Mahi platter and were not disappointed. The Fish was very fresh and grilled to perfection with a light salsa and flavorfull...sauce drizzled over the top. The platter came with two scoops of steamed rice and a good portion of green salad. The Mahi Mahi here is better than we've had in many high end restaurants. Definitely a winner in our book. Their pizza is excellent also.More

Great sandwiches! Too bad they were out of french fries, but not a big deal considering they were the only place in Hawi open on New Years Day. A group of us all had something different, burgers, etc. and all good. Friendy staff, place clean...and tidy. Yum!More

Ate here four times during a two-day stay on this part of the Big Island. Highly recommend breakfast here and pizza in the evening. Very casual and easy. Not a high-priced, fancy place but relaxing and good food. Great service and people behind the counter....(If I sound like a family member touting this restaurant, I'm not. But would be, if they would ask me and I could go back to eat here.)More
