surprised by AJB's comment about vegetables on the sunday roast. I'm the sunday chef and we always do carrots, broccoli and beetroot. there is always either roast parsnip/ creamed parsnips or creamed leeks along with a decent portion of roast potatoes. not sure there are...More

A nice lunch with helpful staff. Would prefer to see more vegetables with the roast dinner but all in all it is lovely.

Think of the quintessential English pub and you are thinking of the Royal Oak. While visiting the area for the weekend we were really glad we sought out this gorgeous and cosy ancient building with small bars and low ceilings, with a choice of ales...More

We had a really good Sunday lunch here today. Lovely old pub with a great atmosphere. The food was really excellent and the staff were so accommodating to all our special diets. We will definitely be back.

Met friends here last week. 2nd visit. Food and service excellent. First time have seen 2 fish cakes on plate, certainly not stingy with food! Sat outside as lovely sunny day. Have dined inside on previous visit and equally charming.

Mmmmm a well kept Harveys, excellent. Would have had more if we were not on our bikes with a 5 mile cycle ahead. Will be back. Very friendly and lovely old pub inside with garden outside [well obviously!]. Wish this was on my doorstep.

This pub is very old and very quaint. It has small rooms and small windows and a very authentic feel. It has a lovely beer garden outside. We had wine and a delicious Caesar salad, and an excellent ploughmans.

Pleasant staff and good service. The menu is limited but the food is tasty although the mains do not come with much veg. The ploughmans looked lovely and the portions are generous.

Weird, Harvey's have changed their recipe recently, so it can travel further, i.e. Bigger market, but needs to settle for longer. The Royal Oak beer comes straight from the barrel, mine on Wednesday was perfect, am sure Mike... More
