But let’s not forget that some of the greatest rebels against conservatism—Freud, Schiele, Kokoschka—had roots here, which means a trip to this city is a study in both traditionalist and modernist pasts.
Those who follow The Crown may have found themselves captivated by sweeping shots of the plush Royal Yacht Britannia. It served as the enviable setting for much of the start of the Netflix series’ second season, carrying the oft-pouty Prince Philip on several legs of a globe-spanning tour that included stops in Africa, Australia, and Antarctica. Few, however, may know that the real-life ship is now a museum in Scotland, anchored just outside of Edinburgh.

What we’re going to tell you is not surprising: Texas is a big state. By the time you drive from east to west, you could have passed through five European countries. But as diverse as France is from the Czech Republic, South Texas is from West Texas. Even more people can visit Machu Picchu now thanks to Wheel the World, a California-based travel company that began offering trips to the UNESCO World Heritage site a few months ago. It's the first-ever wheelchair-accessible tour of the site, a maze of stone stairways and temples built 7,970 feet above sea level in the 15th century by order of the Inca ruler Pachacutec.
