Ipanema is considered Rio's crown jewel. It offers the best view of the sunset from Arpoador and is inspiration for the legendary song, “The Girl from Ipanema.” Ipanema is an upscale area, home to many high-end restaurants and luxury shops, many of which can be found on the charming Garcia d'Ávila Avenue. The neighbourhood is very rich culturally, housing many art galleries that show contemporary art. There is also a great variety of nightlife in the neighbourhood, which buzzes with many options for every taste.

"Good looking statue on the promenade at Arpoador Beach of the man who composed the immortal “Girl from Ipanema”."

This statue was erected in 2014 on the 20th anniversary of Tom Jobim’s death at the age of 67 in New York. We encountered it on a walk along Ipanema Beach.
It is just a statue. Not worth going out of your way to see.
For those like myself who love the arts and culture, don't miss out on this cultural space. It offers an art gallery, a bookshop, a cafe and a cinema. The films shown in the cinema are generally interesting, European productions and also independent films of Brazil and other nations. The ambience is pleasant and tranquil. The admittance and the food are...
We have visited this museum twice (on both our trips to Rio) and we highly recommend it to people who are interested in fine jewelry and gemstones. The actual mining displays are very interesting, but the gems steal the show! The colors and size of the stones displayed are amazing and they are all beautiful. Once you have toured the...
I went to eat here with Friends and my girlfriend because of TripAdvisor and i have visited a lot of countrys and different restaurants, but the food and the service were outstanding, the only improvement for me was that it was a little cold, because on the aircon, but as soon as we asked, they turned it up a little!...
"The best lunch buffet at a very inexpensive price"
reviewed 3 days ago by rosane29
This is a high-end all-you-can eat of fine, tasteful food at popular price. I had the most amazing 'dourado' fish with 'maracujá' sauce with a variety of wonderful salads plus rice and beans, bite size pie, rice cakes, eggplant lasanha, 'carreteiro' rice, farofa and much more. It is Brazilian cuisine brought to its best with a modern twist.

"Bistro with an Edge"

One of the best bistros in the Ipanema area! Extremely fresh and tasty menu, delicious seafood and fresh fruit juice and cocktail drink menu. Their ceviche is really good and they make fresh wholesome items that really stand out from a line of bad restaurant food in the area. The ambiance is great with excellent attentive staff members.
We had a great dinner here. We were sent by our hotel, which didn't really pay attention to our preferences, which was for lighter fare and not a fish focus. This restaurant serves huge portions, and is almost all fish (mostly cod.) Having said that, we enjoyed our meal. We found the gruff waiter to be quite charming, and he...
We were originally scheduled to stay here for three nights during our three-week trip to Brazil in between transit and at the end. We ended up splitting our time with the Emiliano, however, after a fellow traveler we met in the Pantanal (who also happened to be a luxury travel agent) emailed us to let us know that she enjoyed...
The Ipanema Inn staff are super friendly and personal and willing to help out with anything. The driver organized by the hotel, Genesio, picked me up from the airport -- I seldom had a warmer welcome to a city then from him! Strongly recommend if you want a personal and casual stay in Rio!
I love this hotel! I am a busy person, but this time, I will sit down and write a review, others deserve to know that if they want a memorable stay in Rio, go to this hotel. Reasons:
1. location- easy to go to the beach -Ipanema or Copacobana, near the Hippie Market, near the restaurants in General Osorio.
Absolutely loved this hotel!
Perfect location, fantastic, attentive, amazing staff, super clean, free wifi throughout and full breakfast included.
Look no further when going to Rio, this is the place to stay!
Couldn't get a better location for enjoying Ipanema beach, the room was clean and very adequate, but not huge, the breakfast buffet was absolutely divine. Next trip to Rio I will definitely stay here again. It is RIGHT ON. tHE BEACH! The outdoor cafe is great for people and beach watching
