Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
I discovered this building while strolling around the city and I must confess it was by far the most impressive edifice I have seen in Athens. Absolutely stunning and very well maintained. You can also take a look inside the Academy(with the permission of the guards).
I loved looking at these statement buildings as Greece asserted herself as a nation: the university, the academy and the national library. Do walk and look at them to appreciate Greece’s pride in her heritage.
We enjoyed our sandwiches so much! The white ciabatta bread is a nice choice. Our sandwich included some feta cheese, peppers and smoked turkey. The ingredients were of good quality. Also the espresso and cappuccino coffee is of nice flavor and quality.
Try what ever you want. You wont regret. I payed only 15 euros. Ok the area is not very good. But this restaurant makes the difference. Dont think just go and try:) Thank.you for their delicious complimentary dessert. You can check my pictures.
Grecotel is beautiful Boutique Hotel.
Location is very convenient.
Close to the major attractions and restaurants.
Staff was very helpful and very courteous.
Rooms are well lit, clean , and beautifully decorated.
Every single room has a different decor.
Breakfast buffet was rich and delicious.
Stayed here for two nights during my staying Athens. Easy walk to Acropolis, shopping, food, etc. Rooms are nice enough, staff is nice, and close to most things you'll need. There's a mini outdoor market right outside the hotel, and full market up the street.
The location is great because of the very close METRO station, breakfast has good standards and variety, personnel is friendly. Very bad reputation for the hotel the room we stayed (totally blind), you couldn't know if it's day or night!!
My favorite hotel. Best location, clean, good food, good service. The staff are very nice people and helpful. This is my fourth time at the fresh hotel and I recommend it. Modern nice rooms nice rooftop restaurant.
Hotel location and breakfast are great just 10 to 15 mins walk to Acropolis, Plaka area, Monastiraki.
Rooms are clean.
Bathroom is small this is the only problem, but the men at the reception were very helpful.
