In 1963, Schöneberg was the centre of the political west, inspiring John F. Kennedy to choose this area to famously announce, "Ich bin ein Berliner." Times may have changed, but modern-day Schöneberg still pays tribute to its historical legacies. Once the richest city outside of Berlin proper, the area's affluent past is still visible in ornate housing facades dating back to the Gründerzeit of the 19th century, while residents in fur coats walking their dogs or shopping in high-end KaDeWe continue the tradition with a modern flair. Schöneberg was also once the centre of the decadent and burlesque nightlife of the 1920s. It was here that Marlene Dietrich partied with Christopher Isherwood and the first gay bar in Germany was founded. Today, the gay community still revolves around Nollendorfplatz. The overground Ubahn station is even illuminated in rainbow colors, paying tribute to Schöneberg's progressive past.
My boyfriend and I visited here whilst out exploring. It was a beautifully hot and sunny day and people were sunbathing and having picnics on the grass. The fountain was a lovely touch and a great little find. Lots of cafes and restaurants around. Lovely atmosphere.
We'd never have found this gem without a local guide. Easy to get to by Sbahn, green and tranquil but with several kinds of train, including ICE, zooming past at intervals, which seemed an appropriate contrast. A disused railway yard, taken over by a Green company, it's as if nature has been allowed to slowly reclaim the former industrial site....
Urban Nation was the ultimate highlight of my trip to Berlin during October 2017. I had planned my itinerary well in advance, which was before discovering the Museum Of Urban Contemporary Art had opened on 16/09/2017, however when I heard of its existence I simply had to rearranged my itinerary and visit. Located at Bülowstraße 7, Schöneberg, it’s easily accessible...
I've had a nice culinary experience with excellent Indian food. Everything from panir to lassi was probably the best I ever had. The staff is kind and attentive. Good prices. If ever go back to Berlin will re-do.
Went there based on Trip advisor reccomendations. It was really tastefull. The waiter is realy involved with everything that is happening. However, somehow it worked for me. Food is really good, great taste.

The 6th floor of Ka De Wa has everything from Scottish shortbread to Arctic prawns! Lunch time is a real treat. Chefs kick into action by putting ordered food onto the grill plates. The smells & sizzling sound is tantalising! Amazing choice of salads, too. Wines and beers to accompany your choice. Bon appetite!
Had an amazing experience at Zsa Zsa Burgers: the service was prompt and friendly, the waiter recommended a very nice local beer. The burgers were out of this world - well worth every cent! Would recommend to anyone. Outstanding food!
Great hotel. Booked as very central, opposite U Bahn station, and other travellers recommended it highly. However, additional good points that we had not counted on were great restaurants literally within 200 yards, the fabulously decadent department store next door, alongside the very friendly and helpful staff. An excellent place to stay when visiting Berlin, and it was really good...
Ok, so there's no little bottles of shampoo etc but the room is a good size, modern and clean. The bathroom is a great size with heated towel rail.
It's on a main road and my room faced the street so there was traffic noise but to be honest I found that quite soothing and I slept well. If you...
Very satisfied with this hotel. Stayed there before. Find it very central and close to all amenities. Staff very willing to help. Nice atmosphere in the bar at night. Great location for a weekend break
The hotel is so good, it has a perfect location its in city center, you can reach the main streets by one minute walk, rooms are not so big but they are very clean and suitable for couples, staff are nice and helpful, I recommend this hotel!
My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Riu Plaza Berlin on Friday & Saturday 24th & 25th November 2017. Prior to our arrival we were aware that our check in time was at 3pm however we arrived at 1pm and as our room was ready we were allowed an early check in at no extra charge. The room (1425)...
