Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
Eat, see, and stay in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
There was a massive line of people when we walked past here in the morning, but returning to the hotel everyone had gone so we just walked in. It's free, unlike in London where the house of the lord costs nearly £20. Lovely cathedral with spectacular stained glass windows.
This historic church is on all the maps, but don't be fooled by the street signs, which are designed for cars. In fact, the church is surrounded by the courthouse, the police station... and the entrance is next to the one for people showing up for their hearing! This only adds to your sense of accomplishment when you get in....
Nice bridge as you will find others along the Seine, but maybe this has a more particular history. Too bad for the countless padlocks you will find, which in my opinion spoil a bit 'the meaning of this place.
A must visit place for travellers with interest in history mostly in french revolution. I felt this place a bit grim and dull, but with and hour you can mostly cover the major importance of why its been a museum now,
"Ina Garten sure knows her ice cream! Absolutely delicious even in winter."

I had to try this place on Ina Garten's recommendation. She has a list of her favorite places in Paris on the internet. She stated that the chocolate ice cream tastes like truffles and yes, it does. It is delicious and it was cold outside and I wish I would have bought more scoops. I took it to go because...
Sadly, my husband and I are very picky eaters, and French cuisine is always difficult because we don't eat fish or seafood. Sorza was our "go to" restaurant for dinner. The owner is SO wonderful. She's super nice, she speaks English, she's beautiful, and she really made us feel at home. She accommodated our dietary restrictions without question, and her...
We were in Paris for the day having arrived by Eurostar.
We visited Cathedral Notre Dame and realised we were heading toward lunchtime. Being a tourist hotspot we decided to start to look for lunch venues.
There were a number of Italian based ones immediately adjacent but which served burgers and pasta.
Guessing we could find something on a side...
We had a great Saturday lunch here, the place is very busy and buzzing, the food is standard bistro fare (the steak is very tasty) and the service is friendly although they made an error with the check (which was corrected without problems).
Overall = 7,5/10.
A quiet restaurant with a good view. The waiter was energetic and happy we were there. We all enjoyed the eggs Benedict good hollandaise , eggs poached well but found the bacon too salty. Truly a quiet tasty break from the hustle and bustle of Paris.
This hotel took me back in time to the most charming and wonderful Paris I imagined. All the best of the old world, with all the comforts of the new. The staff here is amazing. So friendly, so accommodating, and so amazing. We felt at home from the minute we walked in. Someone was always available to speak English, and...
Friendly personnel, clean and comfort rooms, great place in the centre of paris and...what else! The location of the hotel is superb! All around is full of small cosy restaurants, shops and bulangeries...just next to the pont Saint Luis where is the magnificent Notre Dame!!!
Fourth time staying at this hotel, so that in and of itself is a review. On Île Saint-Louis literally in the middle of the Seine. A short walk to Notre Dame, Sainte Chapelle, and the Left Bank. A longer walk of quick Metro ride to Louvre, etc.
Staff is helpful, rooms always clean.
Simple cold breakfast (check to see if...
Excellent location, very close to Notre Dame, it was easy to walk around, friendly staff. The room was clean and warm. The space was quite small, but I think is the average. The bed was comfortable and the WiFi was free.
A wonderful location, next to Notre Dame, and easy access to Latin Quarter and the Marais. It was quiet, and felt very safe, and small and intimate.Staff are kind and helpful.
Breakfast can be ordered and served in the room.
I asked for a kettle and was given one.
I would recommend this hotel, and would stay again.
