Wyndham Estate™ is the historically important site where early pioneer George Wyndham planted Australia’s first commercial Shiraz vineyard in 1830. Wyndham Estate is an award-winning tourism destination which attracts more than 40,000 visitors annually, and after taking out the award for 'Best Tourism Winery' in NSW for the last 3 years, we are now in the NSW tourism Hall of Fame! We have also now won best tourism winery in Australia, twice in the last 3 years! The expansive property sits peacefully on the banks of the Hunter River surrounded by undulating vineyards, green pastures and quiet countryside. There is a heritage trail which shows off the main points on the property including Dalwood house which was built in the early 1800's, the family graveyard where George Wyndham himself is buried, our 'fish hotels' and is a great way to spend half a day. The main building on the Estate, captured in the Wyndham Estate logo, was erected in 1904 from local sandstone which was hand-cut by convicts and bears lovely red cedar timber ceilings which add to its rustic elegance. Visitors can enjoy a range of experiences including: Wine tasting daily at the Wyndham Estate Cellar Door which comprises a full selection of favourites such as the BIN range and George Wyndham wines as well as single vineyard Hunter Valley wines for the connoisseur; A fantastic, free wine club which gives people exclusive access to some rare and older wines not available to the general public.
