One of the art collections you should see
The Hermitage is one of those art museums where you know the name long before you visit the museum - especially if you are interested in art. The fact that the Winter Palace, the rooms of the Hermitage, are a magnificent place in themselves and are worth a visit in themselves because of their details and variety when you are in St. Petersburg, is another bonus. A visit to St. Petersburg is rounded off by a visit to the Hermitage. The collection is impressive, large and diverse. Years ago I was fascinated by how pictures by renowned artists such as Picasso were simply hanging (around) on two ribbons in some remote room. The collection is simply too large to see everything in one visit, so everyone will find something that appeals to them. An absolute recommendation!

Sightseeing tour of the Hermitage. What guides, what impressions.
It would be great if you could choose guides for excursions in the Hermitage! With reviews. Let there be different prices for those guides for whom there is a high demand; it is better to overpay than to spend two hours chaotically running around a huge museum! I visited with my daughter in January, we had an amazing guide, two hours flew by like 5 minutes! It’s as if the Hermitage has come to life! Just a minute, but we’ve been there 15 times! And for the first time we took a review! The guide told us that we discovered a lot of new things and wanted to come back and see it again. No one left our group, and at the end of the excursion they did not let go of the guide for a long time, asked her questions, applauded). I told my husband about this with delight, in anticipation we booked an excursion in March, and in the foyer we were introduced to a Hermitage researcher! I even thought it would be even more interesting! But alas(. Just a listing of exhibits, two hours of walking around the halls and no new information, no “highlights”, but simply wasting time. There was an older lady in the group who clearly had more knowledge than our guide; she quietly added some interesting facts to her relative; it was much more interesting to be around her than to listen to the guide. Few of the group reached the end of the excursion; we also gave up.

There are so much to see and learn here... about art, history and human civilization. The building is vast and magnificent. The floor artwork is gorgeous. There are good collections of Raphael's paintings. The collection of altay civilization is impressive (room25, 27).

    In the Hermitage
Once again we visited the museum complex. This day was dedicated to getting acquainted with museum exhibits of the culture of Iran and Turkey. I was especially interested in the collection of Iranian seals. The exhibits are presented very well and there is enough background information. We got acquainted with the collection with great interest.

    Visiting of museum
The visit to the museum left me with a mixed impression. Finally, I fulfilled my long-time dream and visited this famous museum. In the exhibition you can see portraits of Catherine the Second, as well as paintings by famous artists such as Velazquez, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael and Rembrandt. Particular attention was drawn to the Peacock clock, the library of Nicholas II, as well as musical instruments such as a harpsichord and a harp decorated with gold.

    Super recommended
One of the best museums I've ever visited. With an extensive variety of art, the palace is majestic, you can appreciate and get to know much of Russian culture as well as other countries. I was fortunate to visit him with a guide who took us around the most interesting places besides that there were not so many people. It is a museum that you should not miss.

    Magnificent Palace in Saint Petersburg
Visiting the Hermitage Museum with my family was an unforgettable experience that immersed us in a world of art, history, and cultural grandeur. From the moment we approached the magnificent Winter Palace in Saint Petersburg, Russia, we knew we were in for a treat. Entering the museum, we were greeted by opulent interiors adorned with intricate details and impressive architectural features. The sheer scale of the museum was awe-inspiring, with room after room showcasing a vast collection of art spanning centuries and continents. The Hermitage's collection is incredibly diverse, encompassing everything from ancient artifacts to Renaissance masterpieces, Impressionist paintings, and contemporary art. Each gallery we entered offered a new perspective and a new era to explore. Highlights included seeing works by Rembrandt, Leonardo da Vinci, Van Gogh, and Picasso up close, each painting revealing its unique story and craftsmanship. One of the most memorable parts of our visit was exploring the State Hermitage's iconic Winter Palace, with its lavish halls and ballrooms. The grandeur of the Russian Imperial Court's former residence provided a glimpse into the country's storied past and its rich cultural heritage. Navigating through the museum was made easier by the helpful staff and informative signage, which provided context and historical background to the artworks and exhibits. Despite the museum's size, we were able to find our way around and focus on the artworks that interested us most. The experience was made even more special by sharing it with my family. Discussing the art and history together, sharing our impressions, and discovering new favorites made the visit a bonding experience that we will cherish for years to come. Overall, visiting the Hermitage Museum was not just about seeing famous artworks; it was about stepping into a world of beauty, history, and creativity. It left us with a deeper appreciation for art and culture, and a desire to continue exploring the wonders that museums like the Hermitage have to offer. If you have the opportunity to visit Saint Petersburg, the Hermitage Museum is a must-see destination that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression.
