Hotels near Dubrovnik City Walls

Constructed over a 500-year period mainly during the 12th and 17th centuries, the Walls of Dubrovnik are amongst the most extensive and well-preserved fortifications in Europe. Stretching over 6000 feet, the uninterrupted course offers fantastic views of the coastal city. There's little shelter from the sun, so visit during the cooler months or evenings to beat the heat and for fewer crowds. You can purchase tickets from any City Wall entrance, but a Dubrovnik Pass is convenient and offers great value. A guided tour also often includes a walking tour of the Old Town as well. – Tripadvisor

    Beautiful views
Expensive experience (€35 pp) but worth it for the views. A few cafes / bars along the way. Would not recommend this for anyone with mobility issues. Would suggest visiting in the morning when temperatures are a little cooler, and less crowded.

Definitely a must do, but buy the City pass.
The best value is to buy the city pass, 35 euros, which is a digital pass and gives you access to all the museums and a 24 hour bus pass - collect from the bus shed outside the Pile Gate. The views are brilliant and there is so much history and do not miss out on the included museums, although oddly it appears there is a museum closed virtually every day. Highly recommended.

    Fantastic experience
On our first day in Croatia we went to Dubrovnik to walk the city walls. We got the first bus from Cavtat to Dubrovnik so we could arrive just after 8am when the walls just opened and it was a bit cooler. It was 35 euros each. The route is about 2k and it took us about 2 hours to walk around at a leisurely pace, taking lots of pictures and enjoying the view. I really enjoyed this. It was very hot even in the morning, but wasn’t too busy. I think this is a must do when you are in the city, but you need to be relatively fit and be wary of the heat. Lots of water is definitely needed for all the stairs you have to climb.

One of the best views in Dubrovnik
Walking the walls of the Old Town was very interesting. You get a great view of the surrounding area. It takes about 1 1/2 - 2 hours to walk the whole thing, depending on how many photos you take. Lots of great photo opportunities. Also a few places to stop and have a drink, which pays off if it is a warm day. The fee is 35 euros to walk the walls. If you plan to go to the Fort and at least one museum, it is worth it to get the Dubrovnik Pass. We got the 3 day pass and it paid off.

Great way to see Old Town!
Amazing views! Really good way to see the OId Town. It is quite expensive for what it is, 35 euros for an adult but students can get discout. Wear comfy shoes and take plenty of water as lots of steps and very sunny/warm. There are a couple of places you can get refreshments on the way round.

Expensive, but included with Dubrovnik Pass
Incredible views with the old town on your left and beautiful sea on the right for most of the walk. There are a few places to join/leave the wall, but with some long stretches between. Plenty of places for a light refreshment scattered over the length of the walk. Very expensive, around €35 per person which we don’t think is value for money. The fee does include entrance to Fort Lovrijenac (€15 alone). However, we bought the three day Dubrovnik pass for €45 which allowed us on and off of the walls as we pleased within a 72 hour time frame, as well as offering other attractions free/at a discount. This pass certainly made the Dubrovnik Walls better value for money than if we had paid just for the walls.

Great tour with very enthusiastic guide!
We had a very lovely afternoon doing this Game of Thrones citywalk in Dubrovnik. Guide Branko knew everything about the series and the places they filmed at. He also told some backstage stories. And also because of Branco’s charismatic and energizing way of storytelling, it was all in all a great experience!

    Worth the money
It is expensive to go around the walls of Dubrovnik, but they are very well kept and, other than the cable car, up at not going to get the chance to see the whole town. There are exits along the way of required. Definitely worth the money as this is a very unique place. There are a few refreshment stops soo along the way, about half way are bottled drinks and a freezer of ice lollies but if you hold out further along is a licensed restaurant where you can look out over the see.

Lovely walk and wonderful views but they come at a price
The old city of Dubrovnik is stunning, as are the views from the amazing, well-maintained walls. The upkeep is undoubtedly expensive, but the entrance fee at 35 euros per person is high, in our opinion. Admittedly, the ticket is valid for 3 days - not to return to the walls, but to also visit the St.Lawrence Fort, which is outside the city. Visitors, who are there for one day only, are unlikely to be able to take advantage of this offer, as walking the walls and exploring the city is fulfilling enough. After climbing and descending the steps on the wall, older visitors, (or those with health concerns), in particular, are unlikely to want to climb another long path and set of steps to go inside the fort. I suggest that there should be 2 types of ticket, on offer - one for walking the walls only and another offering this, plus the visit to the fort. Alternatively, simply set a reasonable price for walking the walls.

    Not to be missed
Yes, this is a popular, busy attraction. Yes, you will pay a lot to walk this 1.5 mile loop under punishing heat and/or blustery winds. Yes, you will clamber up and down more stairs than you can count. Yes, you would be silly to miss it. HOT TIP: Buy the Dubrovnik Pass instead of the plain wall tour ticket. It costs the same, but includes unlimited (for the day) on/off access to the walls, plus a number of museums and other attractions in Dubrovnik. A number of places sell this pass. Some of them require cash only, but most will accept cards too. What an astounding, scenic city! Pearl of the Adriatic indeed. Take your time (and plenty of water) as you walk along these walls. Bask in the unique historical atmosphere of the place. Even if you are the world's worst photographer, any pictures you take will turn out amazing. When you are done, be sure to use that Dubrovnik Pass you so wisely purchased to visit the various museums that are included, especially the Rector's Palace. Make a day of it. It will be one of, if not THE, highlight of your Croatian adventure.

  • Lovrjenac Fortress Hotels
Often called "Dubrovnik's Gibraltar", this hilltop medieval fortress sits perched outside the city walls, on a promontory overhanging the Adriatic Sea. Game of Thrones fans will recognize this as the Red Keep in King's Landing. Catch your breath after the steep climb up, enjoy the breathtaking views of Dubrovnik’s Old Town and West Harbor, and wander the imposing stone corridors and patios. Take a tour to dive deep into the rich history, or a Game of Thrones-themed one for an extra dose of fantasy. Save by getting a city pass that includes entry to Fort Lovrijenac and other sites in Dubrovnik. – Tripadvisor

  • Lapad Hotels
Located on a peninsula, this residential neighborhood is a short bus or ferry ride away from Dubrovnik's Old Town and the surrounding islands. There are many pebble beaches for swimming and water sports along the coastline, some offering paid facilities while others can be accessed for free. Velika and Mala Petka Forest Park in the south offer lush greenery with hiking trails and coastal viewpoints. Consider staying in Lapad as a cheaper, quieter, and greener option over the busier Old Town. The buildings here are modern, and most lodging is situated around Lapad Bay and Babin Kuk. – Tripadvisor
