- FrankEaringVictoria, Canada11 contributionsWhiskey in the jarAs close as you get to a slice of Ireland’s past… with an excellent gift store. Small, detailed, “curated”, authentic with a great sense of mischievous humour and genuine respect for the past. I loved visiting this working farm and tourist “experience”. A family run business with beautiful, locally-crafted wares (wool, linen and Poteen!) for sale, Molly Gallivan’s is a strong link to a near mythical past… and as close as the modern day adventurer gets motoring through in a Mercedes bus. Well worth a visit and if you get a sunny day, the surrounding countryside is Simply breathtaking.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 9 October 2023
- Maggie B29 contributionsWouldn’t have missed it!What a wonderful insight into life and times in centuries past. Being in the actual cottage and adjoining buildings brought home, the reality of the challenges. Molly and her family must have faced. Wonderfully entertained by Molly’s descendants and in spite of the weather had a great time. Definitely a highlight of our Back Roads Tour.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 October 2023
- Caroline BUnited States2 contributionsMolly Gallivan’s cottage and farm- Highly recommendWow! What a wonderful Gem. We stumbled upon Molly’s Gallivans while we were wrapping up a day of hiking. Steven and his family have such a delightful business with the most hospitality I’ve ever experienced. We did the full whiskey tour story telling of Molly. This is the home of Molly and her 3rd generation ancestor's have made it such a wonderful place to visit. Make the effort to stop by and visit.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 14 October 2023
- Jeanne R1 contributionOne of the best stops in IrelandExcellent tour! I learned so much on Stephen’s tour of the farm about Ireland, its history and traditions. You are made to feel like one of the family. The shop is wonderful as well. Highly recommend!!Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 14 October 2023
- Jeni R24 contributionsA Grand day at Molly’sMolly’s is a wonderful view of a live working farm from early 1800 in Ireland. Steve and his family truly keep the history and spirit of Ireland alive. The cottages are original and this is one of the very few places to get a true handmade Irish sweater with the Irish wool. This is a beautiful ride to get to, a grand time to be had when there and a small sadness when it’s time to go.Visited October 2023Travelled on businessWritten 15 October 2023
- Gail VEverett, Washington381 contributionsrare gemthis is a rare gem of a place. we went with a group and had demonstrations of making soda bread. Lots of woolen items and souvineers for purchase. - Jennifer C2 contributionsFantastic and Unique ExperienceSteve and Frances were not only amazing hosts, but they took us back in time as we sat in the little cottage and watched Frances make bread to cook in the hearth. Then Mike offered us a taste Poitin as we learned about the incredible Molly Gallivan and with what courage and creativity she kept her family going amidst tough times. The best part was lunch in the converted barn--delicious homemade soup and bread on a rainy day and Mike sang us some Irish songs. Great experience and would definitely recommend visiting!Visited October 2023Travelled on businessWritten 27 November 2023
- LizsherbeckMedley, Florida4 contributionsLinks to the pastWe chose the Traditional Irish evening experience to do with my 14 and 12 year old. It included a guided tour around the grounds, demonstrations, dinner, traditional Irish music and dance. It was a great experience for us all. Stephen is so knowledgeable and shares the information in a way that makes you want to hear more. Just seeing the places helped the history sink in for my kids. The bread making demonstration really brought the whole experience together too - a link to the past. Dinner was yummy and it was very cosy and enjoyable. Everyone is warm and welcoming. We also loved the gift shop! We would love to do it again if we’re ever in the area.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 22 January 2024
- John Y427 contributionsMust visit!I wasn't really sure what to expect, but this place was truly worth the visit. Our group got there a little late so we didn't get to roam the farm, but we got to see the farmhouse and learn the history of Molly Gallivan from her family, that still runs the place. It gave good insight into how difficult life was in the 1800's. They also demonstrated how to make brown bread and poitín (think moonshine). We then had an excellent 3 course meal in their dining hall, complete with Irish music, dancing, and storytelling. #CIETours, you need to make this a regular stop. It was an excellent time! The food and service were amazing, and the entertainment was exceptional! They even had some nice shopping!Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 30 January 2024
- Jess Y6 contributionsGreat History and Amazing ExperienceWe were visiting Ireland in the off season when Molly's is typically closed. We worked through CIE Tours for our personalized group trip, and the family agreed to open up for us for the evening. We had a group of 26 total. Stephen and Frances, along with their daughter and niece were such gracious hosts. The history was really fun to learn about and it was a truly traditional experience where you felt like you stepped back in time. They prepared an amazing meal for our group - every bit of it home made. We had one individual with food allergies and they were careful to prepare a separate meal for him that he found incredible - as did the others that got to taste it. It was one of our friend's birthday and they baked her a cake and came out singing with candles and everything. They really went out of their way to welcome us and make it a great evening. I can't recommend Molly's enough. Take the trip, enjoy the history, and learn a lot.Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 4 February 2024
