    It is a must!
This is a must, I knew of Van Gogh but after being here I am now a fan of his life work! Knowing now how many paintings he did I wonder if there are any out there that are hanging on someones wall and they don't even know it! Very interesting and it has given me a passion for more.
Thank you for your review. We're happy to hear you enjoyed learning about Vincent's life and work at our museum!

    Worth repeating
Beautiful paintings, I am a fan of this type of art/paintings myself. So far my favorite museum for paintings. The storyline of his life is well depicted. I think I'll go on a Monday morning, but it's still quite busy, but I could handle it. I don't think they fill the max either. The audio tour is recommended. I am mildly autistic, so I found an audio tour not in numerical order a bit difficult. This is how you go from painting (as an example) 34 to painting 4 or from 64 to 9. But of course that's my fault and not the museum's fault. I also noticed separate men's and women's toilets. Several museums in Amsterdam no longer have this because of people who feel gender neutral. My opinion is neutral on this 😉 I would love to come back again, I thought it was beautiful and maybe the shop will be open then.
Dank voor de uitgebreide en positieve review en feedback! Er was inderdaad helaas een storing in ons systeem waardoor onze shop niet waren geopend. Vriendelijke groet, Jane

    Excellent!
Amazing museum! We loved the recorded audio tour, which allows you to go at your own pace, highlighting the highlights as you go. We saw many amazing works (although my 2 favorites were missing, starry night & cafe terrace at night). An absolute must when you are in Amsterdam!
Thank you for your positive review! The Starry Night was acquired by the MoMa in New York in 1941. Many of his self-portraits can be found at our museum such as Self-Portrait with Grey Felt Hat or Self-Portrait as Painter. Kind regards, Jane Van Gogh Museum Customer Care

    Well worth a visit.
Sensibly, the number of visitors to the museum is capped, so you really need to book online, in advance. It does get busy, but you can see & read the exhibits, and it's not what we would call overcrowded. The audio tour is good value & very informative, giving you a good insight into Vincent's life, influences & works. We left with a vastly improved knowledge & understanding.

    A great place!
A great place to find out about one of my favourite artists and view his paintings. The museum was busy on the Sunday afternoon we'd pre-booked tickets for but still allowed us plenty of space and time to enjoy the exhibits. It's a shame there was no starry night on display and no mention of it either.

    Well worth a visit
Got to the museum easily by tram. Book tickets in advance to ensure entry. You queue up outside the museum at your designated entry time. Didn’t have to queue long but take a waterproof or umbrella if weather is not good. Bag security check inside. Audio guide available. We didn’t use the audio guide and found walking around the museum and reading information available sufficient to learn a lot more about the artist works and his life. We were a lot more informed by the time we left. We really enjoyed our time at this museum. Our time slot was about 16.15. Unfortunately though, we didn’t have time to have a good look round the gift shop. Toilets available, lifts to all floors, timed entry ensured the museum wasn’t crowded. Free lockers also available. Don’t know if there was a cafe in the museum but there is one close by.

    Marvelous
Fantastic organization! Wonderful to see so many young people inside the museum with paper and pencils donated by the museum to reproduce the paintings.. free children's activities organized by the museum.. I absolutely recommend the well-made and non-trivial audio guide.. in short, 1000 compliments
Thank you for your elaborate and positive feedback, we hope to welcome you again in the future!

A bit pricy, but worth the visit!
This museum is well worth a visit. It has 100’s of paintings by Van Gough and other fellow artists, which make-up a fabulous display of art. I would recommend buying an audio tour to accompany your visit. It’s not mandatory, but it does a really good job of telling you Van Gough’s life, which gives you a greater appreciation of the art on display. I do think the tickets are quite pricy €22 each and an additional €3.50 for the audio tour. Also, this museum doesn’t have all of the collection - there are still a few famous paintings that are housed in other galleries around the world (e.g ‘Starry Night’). However, this is still a brilliant collection and I would highly recommend for your visit to Amsterdam!
Thank you for your elaborate and positive feedback, we hope to welcome you again in the future!
