The Arc de triomphe was begun in 1806, on the orders of Napoleon I to honour the victories of his Grande Armée. Inspired by the great arches of antiquity, the monument combines the commemorative with the symbolic and it has always played a major role in the national republican consciousness. Every evening, the flame is lit on the tomb of the Unknown Soldier from the Great War. An exhibition portrays the history and explains its symbolic importance, nationally as well as internationally. The terrace provides superb views both by day and night across the city and its great sweeping avenues.-Opening hours : April to September: from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.; October to March: from 10 a.m. to 10.30 p.m.-Closed: 1st January, 1st May, 8th May (morning), 14th July (morning), 11th November (morning), 25th December-Entry fees: Adults = 9,5 €; Concessions = 6 €; Free admission: 18-25 years old* (citizens of one of the 27 countries of the EU or are non-European permanent residents of France) * excluding school groups

    Anniversary trip
Purchase your ticket to the top at your hotel, saves a lot of time. We went on a Sunday, and it was still packed, so having out tickets in advance helped. Amazing views from the top, next time we will go at night to see all the Paris lights.

Best value for money Paris viewing
Be prepared for some burning legs walking up to this wonder. Everything about this monument is class though and well worth the burn. The view from the top is amazing in every direction, and we didn't see any scams there! The sheer size of the structure is something that pictures or youtube videos can't prepare you for. A definite must see for sure.

Great at dusk. Worth the wait to climb to the top.
You don't have to wait in the ticket line underground to get into the plaza and see the monument. There are no tickets needed to visit the Arc from ground level. The tickets are only to climb to the top. The climb is worth it for the view, especially at dusk. Skip the line tickets seemed to be worth it in terms of skipping the both the ticket line and the above ground line to go up the stairs.

    Amazing Experience & Incredible Staff
Incredible! The staff were the nicest and kindest people I have ever met - particularly for a monument. The views were superb and we learned a lot about French history. Would gladly go again and HIGHLY recommend to anyone visiting Paris.

    Best experience of my life
The views are absolutely beautiful whenever you go - we went on a clear afternoon but even the clouds covered the sky it was still stunning. We also watched the sun set which made it even better, however we left too quickly to watch the Eiffel tower light up. Definitely book online as the queue is much shorter than the “buy your tickets when you get there” queue. There are lots of stairs but it’s not really too tiring (as a healthy teen, and not bad for my middle aged parents either) i would 110% recommend this when you go to paris, don’t miss out on it

Great views of Paris and along the Champs-Élysées
For €13 (free for up to 18 years) you can buy a ticket to go inside the Arc du Triomphe as well as on top for some panoramic views, or you can just take pictures around its perimeter. Afterwards, no trip to Paris would be complete without a stroll along the Champs-Élysées, one of the most iconic avenues in the world, with its theatres, cafes, and luxury shops. A must see on a trip to Paris just be prepared for a line & crowds!!!
Another must see on a trip to Paris! Be prepared for a line even if you have a ticket already. There are quite a few steps up but it is worth it for the panoramic views of the city! The whole visit took less than an hour but it was worth it!

    Interesting and poignant visit
Our hotel was nearby so decided to visit on our final day in Paris. Fantastic view of the Champs Elysee and all the other boulevards. As well as other Paris landmarks. Bring your walking shoes as there are plenty of stairs to climb to reach the top of the Arc. However, this was the day after Armistice Day and brought home the sacrifice the people of France had made in defending their country. Well worth a visit and see this famous Parisian landmark from a different perspective.

Bring a change of pants for the drive!
Ok its beautiful, huge, iconic & awe inspiring BUT to drive that round about to get to get/around it NO NO NO NO NO~ I was freaking out so much about hitting someone especially the motorcycles that zoom in and out. That's a bucket list item once and done! It's like a clock and has 12 exits off of it.

    Glad I did it.
It was a nice surprise that you can climb the stairs to the roof. We did not get timed tickets as we were there in the third week of November. Waited about 15 minutes to start climbing the stairs. It is slightly difficult. Great view of the Eiffel Tower, streets, and the city. I wouldn't put it at the top of the list in Paris, but I was glad we did it. We were in Paris for 5 to 6 days as well, so we had time to do Versailles, the Louvre, St. Chappelle.
