    Challenge your perceptions
    Camera Obscura staff were all so welcoming and helpful. The installations are awesome and get your brain working…we laughed our way around the floors. The views of Edinburgh are stunning from the terrace and the Vortex is the funniest experience ever. Two grown women reverted to childhood throughout the whole visit. Would highly recommend!

    Great
    I walked past it on my way to the castle and thought it looked interesting. I used the QR code to check ticket prices and thought they seemed reasonable. I thought the exhibition was great value for money and lots of fun. I would definitely recommend to people visiting the area.

    Brilliant place, well worth a visit.
    We were on a road trip round Scotland and only had 1 day in Edinburgh. Someone had recommended this place and we were so glad we went. It is great fun but you also get to see so much of Edinburgh with great photo opportunities from the top floor.

    Love love love!
    I adored it!! It was so much fun, they were so kind, friendly and respectful over the fact I had my assistance dog with me. the guy giving the show was hilarious aswell, I laughed so hard. I loved I could interact with stuff so not just looking at things, specially the drawing computer thing was fun. Absolutely great for young and old. It's a bit pricey but honnestly so worth it and I will advice my family and friends to go if they ever visit Scotland aswell.

    Fun for all family
    Attended with a couple of teenagers and good fun with a lot to see and you. Great views of the city from the top and a good presentation from guide too. Vortex feature was a highlight. Reasonable price and very enjoyable experience.

    Went with my two grandchildren who had never been before. They had a great time. Each floor was different. Something for everyone. Staff very helpful in reception and at the top floor. Very interesting facts about the history. Staff helpful too in the shop. You can go at your own pace. No. rushing. We were there for over two hours. Good value for money as I got one grandchild free with SCOTRAIL kids for a quid offer.

    Great entertainment.
    This was highly recommended by a friend so we decided to visit. Great way to spend a couple of hours and if you are visiting the city this is an attraction I would def make the effort to include in your day. Lots of optical illusions/experiments/experiences.

    Fun at Camara Obscura
    We visited a few days ago and we all had a fun time. Lots to do and see and the views from the top of the building is amazing. The stairs can be quite tiring going up and down the place. It is pricey for the 1 hours and 30 minutes we were there.

  • SS Explorer Hotels
    The SS Explorer is a historic ship located in Leith Docks in Edinburgh. Built in 1955 as the first purpose built Scottish marine research ship. This extraordinary piece of engineering heritage is a time capsule into life at sea between the 1950’s and 1980’s. The cabins are almost exactly as they were when the ship was decommissioned in 1985, complete with TV’s, phones and life jackets. See the difference between how the crew and officers lived. The SS Explorer Preservation Society intends to restore as much of the ship as possible, including a working main engine and create an exhibition and visitor museum ashore next to the ship. If you are interested in a tour of the SS Explorer please email us to arrange this. Unfortunately due to the historic nature of the ship it is not suitable for those with mobility issues as the many stairs inside are very steep. We are working on ways around this, but at the minute our only solution is a video tour on our website.
