Spirit Collection Tour is a solid 10/10! 🦑🐋
Me and my girlfriend did the Spirit collection tour yesterday and it was absolutely fantastic. Joe was our tour guide and he was brilliant, very friendly and funny and made the whole tour enjoyable for the small group. It was educational and informative and we got to see some really cool stuff. I highly recommend the Spirit collection tour for anyone wishing to see behind the scenes. It’s so rare to see a giant squid and Archie (great name for a squid) is preserved beautifully intact. Thanks again NHM for an awesome day!

    Natural History Museum in London
Located in Kensington, close to Hyde Park, this is one of the museums worth visiting in London. The structure is imposing and spacious, characterized by the dinosaur skeleton found at the entrance. It has several floors, each dedicated to a theme: from man and his evolution to natural disasters. The history of life and the planet is told here through images and objects, even pieces and fossils, in a didactic way that makes it very interesting and complete. Suitable for all ages. Entry is free.

    London mini-break.
A great museum, with fantastic exhibits and a very grand building. By pre-booking our free tickets we avoided the queue, which was a double bonus as it was raining. We spent over 4 hours there and still only saw half so be prepared for a full day or multiple visits. It was very busy, even in February, so be warned.

    Busy but beautiful museum
My partner and I visited here during a recent trip to London, we spent most of the afternoon here and then came back for a couple of hours in the morning the next day to see bits we had missed. The museum is incredibly busy. We visited in the winter, on a weekday during term time so suspect it was a slightly quieter time to visit but still, sometimes it was difficult to actually stop and look at anything due to the crowds. We returned for opening the next day and the first hour of the day was much quieter and easier to explore so I would recommend going early. There seemed to be a endless amount of school trips there, understandable, it's a great place for a school visit but there were a number of times we were in a room which was just taken over by 30-40 primary school aged children. You'd hurry through the room because you couldn't actually look at anything anyway only to be greeted by another school group 10 minutes later. This did get a little tiresome and I wonder if school visits could be more efficiently managed for the enjoyment of both the class and the general public visiting. There were plenty of fascinating exhibits as well as other areas which remained completely unchanged since I last visited about 10 years ago. A lot of 'the red zone' looks like it's seem better days and could do with some TLC. Exhibits aside, the museum itself is absolutely gorgeous, excellent architecture and the main hall is something truly spectacular to behold, especially with the blue whale skeleton suspended from the ceiling. The dinosaur area was slightly disappointing. The vast majority of the skeletons were suspended from the ceiling, it looked like there was a suspended walkway too so you could walk up high and get a better view but this wasn't open. Unsure if it's ever open to the public or if it's just for staff as there was no obvious way to get up there either, but from ground level you really couldn't get much of a good look at what was one of the main reasons for our visit, especially as it was so busy it was hard to stop and look up at them for longer than a few seconds so we missed a lot of detail. Despite this, it's well worth a visit. I doubt there's anybody of any age, knowledge or interest level who wouldn't find something in here that impressed them.

    Wonderful
Oh it's just wonderful, from the hugely popular dinosaurs to the quieter rocks in the upper floors, there's always something to make you stop and look again. I think you could go back once a month and still see something new on each visit. The building itself is as spectacular as the whale that greets you, every pillar or staircase seems different. The cafe is a little expensive but the food is good and a small mark-up on a butty is no price at all to see the exhibits. Serious advice is to book ahead, it's free and saves you queuing to get in, the queues for those just turning up were 2 hours...no fun on a cold rainy London day.

    Beautiful is an understatement…
Assuming that it is worth it just for the building in which it is located, I think it is the most beautiful museum I have ever seen. Rich, well structured, exciting and interesting. Already at the entrance you find yourself under a whale skeleton (gigantic!), then you move from the giants of the past to the smallest insect. It's a shame that when we were there the seaside area was closed for maintenance... it reopens in April... last thing, it's free! A (free) donation is asked at the entrance. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

    very informative but HUGE
not the fault of the museum of course, but its almost to big. the kids were amazed by the dinosaurs and big show piece displays, but rooms and rooms of fossils and animals were not their cup of tea. maybe design a shorter route for the younger visitors that gives the highlights?

    So many things to see!
Walking up to the museum hits hard with the amazing architecture. It’s overwhelmingly gorgeous. There is no cost to go in, but they do request a donation. You get a free guide book with your donation. Inside, the first thing you see is the skeleton of a whale hanging overhead. It was amazing. The dinosaur area was overly crowded, and there were tons of children so we didn’t stay long. The mammal area was the same. The rest of the museum was just moderately busy, and there were so many cool things to see!! I wish we had more time.

    really nice
The museum is not huge and can be completely visited in half a day. The various areas are divided and well structured, very interesting to see the evolution of the species, the stones and the various skeletons of animals, both prehistoric and otherwise. The main hall is beautiful with the skeleton of the whale. There are various refreshment areas. The museum is easily reachable by tube at the South Kensington stop, a very nice area to visit later. Entrance is free but you need to book tickets online, an offer is welcome. Two floors at the entrance can only be reached by stairs (so if you have strollers you have to carry them up by hand), the rest can be accessed easily. Worth visiting
