Know before you go
As home to one of the largest ski resorts in North America, Whistler has become shorthand for D38ski season. But the spring, summer, and fall seasons are no slouch either, offering gorgeous mountain hiking and biking. The Village, nestled at the bottom of both Whistler and Blackcomb mountains, is the most convenient place to stay. A series of paved walking paths make it easy to stroll from your hotel room to an apres-ski restaurant, shops selling athleisure, or a lift for your ski run. Another option is Whistler Creekside, a more residential area with fewer amenities but access to its own gondola, just five minutes down the road. If you like water sports as much as mountains, Alta Vista is a five-minute drive from The Village and puts you at the lip of picturesque Alta Lake. Meanwhile, 10 minutes from the resort is the artsy little area known as Function Junction, best suited to travelers who are willing to swap convenience to dodge crowds.
