A fashionable resort since the 18th century, Brighton remains London and South England's seaside escape. Brighton and adjoining Hove's popularity grew immeasurably when the railway arrived in 1841. Today, trains from London still stream into the city. Hundreds of pubs and clubs attract an energetic crowd, especially at weekends. Brighton is the UK's main gay resort. Three highways open up the island for those with a rental car or a bus schedule. Prime sites to visit include Iglesia de San Juan Bautista de Arucas and Palmalitos zoo park.

Classic whitewashed buildings line the labyrinthine streets of Mykonos, the largest town on the Greek island of the same name. Matoyianni Street is particularly charming.
