Youghal, Co. Cork is a unique place in Ireland’s Ancient East with miles of sandy beach and a rich medieval history. Youghal Clock Gate Tower is the most visible landmark in the centre of Youghal’s Main Street and is newly opened for 2017 as a visitor attraction. Although built in 1777 as a gaol, this story spans 700 years of history. Visit is by way of a guided tour (allow 1 hour) with costumed ‘storytellers’ over 4 floors. Each floor depicts a different era in time and includes a medieval merchant’s dwelling, an 18th Century Gaol, a ‘time keeping floor’ and a former family home. Hear stories of pain, tragedy and rebellion, but also stories of love, friendship and generosity throughout this tour.

Welcome to 'Voices of St. Mary's Collegiate Church'. We hope you will enjoy exploring our church and discover more about its story in our interactive exhibition when you come to visit! Since its foundation in 1220, St. Mary's Collegiate Church has been at the heart of the town of Youghal. For over 800 years, the stone walls and wooden roof have provided sanctuary and solace through times of war and famine, as well as a calm presence in times of prosperity and peace. There is so much to discover her and as you look around you will see where parts of the church have been altered over the centuries. Despite these changes, the craftsmen who constructed the building in the 13th century would recognise it today. Christian worship continues to this day and Church of Ireland services are regularly held here. The church came into the care of Cork County Council in 2005 and now hosts a wide range of community events and performances, as well as welcoming visitors from all over the world!

One of Ireland’s oldest cinemas, the Regal Cinema in Youghal reopened its doors in summer 2018 following a year-long renovation. The refurbished cinema has 2 screens showing the latest Hollywood movies and old classics on state-of-the-art 4K digital technology. The stunning cinema also has a luxury mezzanine level in screen one, a multi-purpose space for events and, for a truly unique experience, cinema goers and walk-in guests alike can enjoy a glass of wine in the new Regal Wine Bar & Café. Built in 1936, many of the cinemas original architectural features have been meticulously restored and some eye-catching, art deco style touches added throughout making this a wonderfully nostalgic cinema experience.
