The Ballycroy Visitor Centre is the main interpretative centre for Wild Nephin National Park, Ireland's sixth National Park. The National Park was established in 1998 and covers 15,000 hectares of mountaineous terrain, Atlantic blanket bog and forestry. The Visitor Centre, opened in 2009, is located along the N59 road between Mulranny and Bangor Erris. The Visitor Centre houses a free exhibition on the National Park, a café and art gallery, and a 2km nature trail. A 10 minute drive south of the Visitor Centre is the 2km Claggan Mountain coastal trail. The main looped walkways in the National Park are accessed on the eastern side of the National Park at the Letterkeen Trailhead (45 minutes drive from the Visitor Centre) which is north of Newport accessed via the Nephin Drive.

Westport Town Hall Theatre promotes a year-round programme of theatre and arts events catering for all ages. The Quay Gallery Westport is now providing Needle Felting and Jewelry Making Workshops. The Gallery opened its doors in May 2014 - this venture is the brainchild of three like-minded local artists Sue Basler, Victoria Foutz and Suzie Sullivan. They have created an eclectic and innovative space where clients can buy a range of handmade Irish craft in a relaxed environment, meeting the artists and seeing them at work.
