This hotel has a wonderful classic European feel which I love but unfortunately there is no AC in the room which made a 20 degree day an absolute oven, and the lock system used on the doors is a joke, myself and colleagues tried tirelessly to follow the instructions given but had to get staff to open our doors for us numerous times.

Staff very friendly and efficient. Sauna area a little outdated and fairly small. Restaurant old fashioned, but very good quality food. In the pub good meals available. Sorounding area very nice and inviting for good walks.

We were traveling from Kiel to the Hook of Holland and took the Elbe ferry to avoid going anywhere near Hamburg. This hotel was our overnight stop chosen for it's countryside location and because it was not far off route. It was a pleasant surprise to find such a lovely place. Plenty of free car parking, nice clean accommodation, good food and a host of spa facilities. There are pools, sauna and hot tub, none of which were crowded. The only caution is that the sauna, which we didn't use, is one of these German ones where they don't wear clothes. For the quality of the hotel and the facilities available the price was very reasonable. If you are travelling in Northern Germany then this is a place worth staying at.

I had to stay two nights in Varel and was a bit concerned after I read the different posts about this hotel. However there were not really alternatives. Finally I really enjoyed my stay. The staff was very kind, especially the service in the restaurant. I had a very spacious room with two levels. Everything was clean and bright. Big surprise: upstairs I had a water-bed. The breakfast was excellent and as well the food in the restaurant was good. I did not try the menu, 29 € is really too expensive. I did not use the Spa, so I cannot assess.

Spent three days in the hotel during a business trip. Coming back to the hotel after stressful working days felt like "home away from home". The rooms are modern, large and clean. The restaurant is good and the staff very friendly. Next to the hotel is a small forest lake, which provides for a good opportunity to have a quick evening stroll. Did not make use of any of the spa facilities.

We stayed here in a nice duplex family room for one night whilst driving from Amsterdam to Denmark, which took us a wee bit off the road. Very pleasant forest walks and lake beside the hotel and our children enjoyed watching the deer out of the bedroom window grazing in the evening. Pleasant pool and spa facilities, although we didn't use them all as upstairs from the pool clothes weren't worn (us British get a bit shy about these things). Nice breakfast buffet was included in our price. The water bed caught us by surprise but was nice.

We had a one night stay at this nice hotel on road trip to Amsterdam. The hotel is located close to the autobahn but still in rural surroundings nearby a forrest with walking paths. The hotel itself and the rooms are nice and clean. The room was large with a nice view. The hotel has an number of spa and sauna fascilities, but notice that the sauna area was texitile free, which for a non German is odd.
