Firstly, I would like to say that the whole hotel is really lovely place, where you can spend your summer and winter holidays. Hotel is partly renovated, and the rooms are nice and clean. + The food in hotel is the best food I have ever eaten in my life. It has the best location, because it is almost on the slope and you can also do some hiking around the hotel in the summer. It has also own parking plot with a lot of free space, even in the evening. Great plus is also its own newly build wellness with whirlpool and 3 saunas. In front of the hotel is small square, where you can buy some food or souvenirs and cross-country stadium where you can try cross-country skiing. - As always, there are some things I did not like, for instance: in the shower you had to wait longer for hot water, it makes showering not really comfortable because either you wait for hot water or you are showering in cold water. Moreover, one member of their stuff was kind a rude while talking with me, but maybe he had just bad day :), other stuff was really nice and polite. To sum everything up, whole experience in hotel Fis was incredible! Even though there were some small minuses the accommodation facility as a whole was amazing and as a regular customer I will come back as soon as possible. Thank you very much. (Additionally, I would like to pointed out that this hotel has really big potential in the future, because in the past it served as a training facility for people doing sports professionally, therefore behind the hotel they have big sport infrastructure with pool, gym, table tennis and so on. I hope in the near future it will be renovated and put into operation. We are all keeping our fingers crossed for you.)

My boyfriend and I were on a two night stay. The room was very nice although the decorative cushions looked like they've been through a lot. The staff were very helpful. We had buffet breakfast and dinner, which were both quite good, although we would have preferred a larger choice at dinner. Also the dinner was supposed to finish at 10pm but they started taking the food away long before, around 9:30 - if that is the custom it should have been specified in the information booklet or the staff could have given a warning. The wellness & spa was nice and cozy but a bit too small for a hotel of this size and we expected a swimming pool too, but unfortunately there was none, which was quite disappointing. Our relaxing time was constantly disturbed by loud children shouting and running around the hallways and even in the wellness, where they were behaving in a very unsuitable and anti-social manner. Overall very nice and these are the only possible ways I could flaw it.

Dear Terezia, thank you for your review. I am pleased that you enjoyed staying with us and I am sorry about the misunderstanding about dinner - dinner is served from 18:00 to 21:00 I apologize for the disturbance in wellness, we had a group of kids but such a group is exceptional and not often here. Children do not go to wellness after 6:00 pm, but we also have to accommodate children 's guests. We want all our guests to feel comfortable with us. We are looking forward to your next visit. Convenient location is all I could say that is positive. This could really be a 5 star review but the hotel lacks quite a bit. The location of the hotel is really good if you're there for skiing. It's the only hotel that is right on the slopes. All other hotels in Strbske Pleso have their minibuses that drive you to and from the slops. If you've every been skiing you know how inconvenient that can be. Some rooms have a view of the slopes too. However, if you're more into having fun after a full days of skiing you're not in the best area. The other good was the reception staff who were really friendly and pleasant. Unfortunately, that friendly and pleasant feeling disappeared as soon as we had encountered other staff. Bar and restaurant in particular. It felt like they were all forced to work there. I doubt it would hurt to crack a smile once in a while. The hotel itself looks very dated in parts even though they completed renovations 6 years ago. Some of those renovations look very dodgy. The food was really average. Breakfast and dinner buffet were included in the price but the choice was small and mostly uninspiring. Every time I touched a plate I could feel that it wasn't clean at the bottom. I had to stop myself from looking into mugs cause there was always something left unwashed in the corners (really had to live in denial). The rooms were tiny. We got a family room that has a big bed and a sofa bed. The bed was really nice, big and comfortable (shame I couldn't enjoy it as my son kicked me out of it so had to sleep on the sofa bed). Sofa bed was above average for sofa beds. However, with sofa bed expended there was hardly any room for anything else. When you go skiing there's always a lot of stuff you take with you. And considering they sell it as a family room there's no room for kids to do anything in the room. The worst thing about is that our friends also got a family room at a slightly more expensive rate (12 euros a night cause they have 5 years older kids) and they got a massive room with practically separated areas which gives them enough privacy to at least do something when kids go to bed early. "Unfortunately, the hotel was booked out and there was nothing they could do." This is something I really wasn't happy about. They also have a wellness and spa which has a few different saunas and a small Jacuzzi. It was a nice way to top the day of skiing. Also, they have a good skies room and ski boots room which includes a hot air drying machine for sweaty boots :) The prices of drinks and food are close to those of ski resorts in Austria. Considering the facilities included and the quality of ski slopes not sure it's warranted. There's also a small kids play room, pool room right next to it which is convenient for the parents. Within the hotel there's a table tennis room but that's in what appears to be a not renovated area of the hotel. The room is small and can hardly play it. Like I said earlier, this could really be a 5 star review but the hotel has a few disappointing things that could be improved.

Dear Ch0gi, thank you for your review. The Hotel FIS was built in 1969 as a sports hotel for participants of sports skiing events. It has never gone through a complex reconstruction, we are constantly trying to improve comfort for our guests within the space possibilities, therefore we are also a 3 star hotel. We understand that many things could be improved, some of them are being solved - the last time we have furnished ski equipment with professional ski equipment and disinfection and warming of ski boots so that our guests have all the comfort they expect in the ski in - ski out of the hotel. We also had a winter terrace that extended our space for breakfast and dinner and for a pleasant seating with a view. We renovated the hotel rooms last year, and we are gradually trying to renovate the sports facilities too. I am sorry that you can not get to your taste, most clients appreciate the delicious food and the friendly staff. Nevertheless, it will be our pleasure to welcome you to our hotel in the future. We choose this hotel for family vacation for its location. Hotel is placed in pedestrian zone with no traffic at the edge of forest so the air is nice and fresh on the way to vodopady skok. When you open the window you can smell sharpness of the mountain air. It is around 10-15 min walking distance from train station Strbske pleso. Where you can find shops and more restaurants. There are many options for light walks with kids around the lake even accessible with stroller and of course many others for more serious trecking. Hotel has a small playarea for children next to reception. Also offers highchair for dining. Breakfast or dinner buffet has good choice and food overall was tasty during our stay. As per hotel room interrior it could use an upgrade. The photos looks better that the accual room but it was clean. There were also small stuff that was broken. Like door lock and wardrobe door. This should be fixed before the room is given to new guests. There was no kettle but we could rent one from reception. Staff was friendly. Overall we had a good vacation. We enjoyed our massages.

Hotel nice, rooms are ok, SPA great, food is good. The only thing I do not understand is how is it possible to work in a Hotel located 10 km from Polish boarder and do not speak a word in polish. Only 2 women in te reception tried to understand what I was saying and cleaning Ladys. Waiters, barmans, 4 women on te receptions did not even bother to think what i wanted. Strange in EU. Maybe they do not like polish customers.

+ Really nice staff, great big breakfast and dinner, every day a little different meal. Wellness included (3 saunas and jacuzzi), we appreciate that after a long day hiking! - Wifi only at the reception. Went in August and got into a very heavy storm (nothing unusual in Tatry!!!), came back to the hotel completely wet but the heating didn´t work and the only solution that offered me at the reception is that they could wash and dry my clothes for an extra pay. Not happy at all with that!

We arrived here as it was advertised as a nice place to stay with dog.. unfortunately some of the perssonel shown directly to us their unhappines of us beign there with a dog. We were staying with the dog outside hotel and checking the menu after hiking, looking for a place where to eat. While we were reading the menu our dog was lying on the ground next to the table where we were standing, suddenly old waiter came and asked us to move off his way, as he can go around us he was waiting us to step asside.. while there was two steps to walk around us... is it normal attitude for hotel guests especially ? No that was showstopper for us we decided to move to another place..

Dear Vaidas, I am very sorry for your negative experience in our hotel. I fully understand that you just wanted to see the menu at the table and your dog was laying on the floor next to the table. The colleague's reaction was probably not quite right, I'm sorry for it. But please understand our point of view - the space between the tables is needed as a staff transition corridor - your dog should therefore lie under the table - in order to avoid possible accidents. Once again I apologize and I hope your next experience will be better. Erika Fočárová, Hoteldirector

Honestly, I wasn´t expecting much and afterwards it exceeded my expectations. First of all, all the staff was very friendly - from the receptionist through the restaurant staff up to wellness staff and that was the most important! Our room was a bit tiny and the furniture a bit old-fashioned but at the same time you can see the hotel´s effort to modernize as much as they can. Overall, the room was clean and that made it! The food at the restaurant was delicious! We had borsch soup, mixed salad with beetroot and some pasta and everything was really tasty. And of course, the location is undoubtably just perfect. Some cons where Fis hotel could improve: - the food was really tasty but they save on ingredients: e.g. my salad should come with beetroot and chicken breasts. It came as a plate full of salad leaves and I counted only 6 tiny chops of the breasts and 6 of the beetroot. Also pasta which should come with spinach had only a few leaves of spinach. But again, it was delicious - I was disappointed to read in the menu card that they would charge you 1 € for the jar of water!! Come on, this is a shame in every restaurant and the biggest shame in a hotel restaurant - locker key in wellness - what should I do with it? Take it to sauna? :-) - the whirlpool tub and steam sauna felt a little bit fuggy

I stayed here 3rd time during winter. It is very nice hotel, but twin rooms are too small. The worst room are in lowest floor. Breakfast is good. Hotel is busy normally during winter, they ask you to move from breakfast room, if you finished. Wellness zone is ok for relaxing.

Dear Ales, thank you for you review. I'm sorry that the TWIN room was small for you, the hotel also offers larger DBL or Family rooms, this are well-priced. The smallest TWIN rooms are also the cheapest rooms. The breakfast restaurant has limited capacity and we please guests who only use the wi-fi after breakfest to go with the coffee to the upper restaurant. We want to satisfy the guests waiting on the table.I believe that, in the summer months, this little problem will be solved by preparing breakfast places on the summer terrace as well. We would like to welcome you again in hotel FIS Erika Fočárová, hotel director
