Lovely hotel with a lovely hostess! The view from the window/balkony as if there is only you and nature. Minus and plus, there is practically no infrastructure. Always remember this place and meeting with a bear by the lake! :)
We had a great stay at Vila Emma. The room was in perfect condition and very comfortable, with a nice view of the surroundings. Great service, helpful employees doing their best! Breakfast includes a hot dish, made to order and tasty. Looking forward to coming again!
The motel has no elevator. It has a kitchen that is open 24/7, use of fridge and free hot drinks. The room has no kettle. The location is peaceful & quiet, but still a long walk to Strbske Pleso lake. The motel is a short walk to the train station, cafes, restaurants and supermarket. The room is small room & the en-suite bathroom is small. The shower stall design is odd, as everything gets wet from the shower. The room has a big balcony with nice mountain views. The reception staff is friendly and speaks some English. More explanation and map of how to get to trail head of hike to Popradske lake would have been welcomed.
Vila Emma is a wonderful base for visiting the High Tatras. We loved the valley view from the dining room and some of the bedrooms. The valley looked so massive and beautiful to us who come from little England! I found Vila Emma perfect, however my partner felt the shower/wet rooms were a bit small. If this is not important to you then I'd recommend it whole heartedly. All the staff were friendly and helpful - and although they only appear to offer breakfast there are good restaurants very close by. As you can see in the photo, a kitchen is available for you to prepare your own food. I shall have the wonderful view from Vila Emma in my head for ever!
This is a great hotel. I booked the room via the Internet and wasn't sure what to expect. In booking I made an error and reserved a larger than necessary room. On arrival, our hostess, Lucy, corrected it which resulted in a saving for us. She was terrific in many ways including being knowledgeable about the mountain paths One night she had the sauna ready for us, price included in the stay. On another she ran a video on the Tatras. The breakfasts were excellent with a good choice of hot and cold options. I part liked the bacon and eggs in which the eggs were cooker over the bacon. And the bacon was special. The only thing we didn't like was the shower design because every shower resulted in getting the bathroom floor and wet.
This place is quite a nice hideaway in woods next to Strbske pleso. It has got comfortable a newly furnished rooms with quite a view. Couple downsides are in bathrooms which are leveled wrong so all the shower water is all over the bathroom floor. Showers are also freakishly small and have no holder for shower head. Apart from this all good.
Cosy, relaxing, quiet but friendly penzion / villa. It is located to the southern side of Strbske Pleso cog railway station with lovely views overlooking Strba valley. The rooms are clean, well maintained, bright and airy. Free Wi-fi is available in all the rooms. There are no English language TV channels in the rooms. The owner Martina is extremely helpful and accommodating with excellent local knowledge of activities to do in the local area. She speaks English, German, Polish and of course Slovakian. There is the option of using the well furnished kitchen at any time to cook your own meals. Breakfast can also be provided but it's a little expensive for what's provided choice-wise. A nice touch is the penzion provides a range of toys and games for children to play with. Ideal in bad weather. An all round hostel for solo travellers, small families and all ages. …
