The hotel has good location, it is close to the station and walking distance to the Lake. Rooms were spacious and clean. Staff in the kitchen little slow and confused, but had enough food for kids including fruit snacks. Large indoor area for kids to play.
To start on a positive note: the hotel in in an excellent location, very close to the station in the heart of Strebske Pleso. There is an excellent train system, so it is really an asset to be close to the train staton. Strebske Pleso is very popular and at times it felt crowded with hikers. We also visited the village called Tatranska Lomnica and we felt it was a bit more attractive although it didn't have Strebske's nice lake that you could easily walk around. Two hikes we can recommend are the one to the Skok Waterfalls and another one from Tatranska Lomnica to Hrebienok (go up by cable car, this is however quite expensive). Check-in at the hotel was not as friendly as in other hotels we stayed at during our trip through Central Europe. The corridor to go to the room was a bit weird: extremely wide and not very well lit. The apartment itself was nice and clean. The bed for my daughter was in fact a couch covered by a sheet. The matresses of our bed were really hard and at one point in time I started thinking that they were not matresses at all but also coming from a couch. The balcony could use some cleaning. The breakfast buffet was mediocre and a bit weird: I have never seen baby food jars placed on any breakfast buffet. Service was slow and not very friendly, Overall experience was mediocre especially if we compare it to our experience later on in the Austrain alps which was far nicer.…
The hotel is well-located with a supermarket nearby, and within walking distance of Lake Strbske Pleso. The creperie next door is great if you need a quick snack. The apartments are spacious with a kitchenette, seating area and walk-in wardrobe. Beds are harder than most places we've been to, which is a minus. The private wellness area was great to unwind after a day of hiking in the Tatras. Book your slot earlier as each apartment goes in at your requested time.
We were re-directed to the Crocus because the hotel that we had originally booked, changed the owner and was closed unexpectedly. So we arrived in Crocus already unhappy and suspicious. However, we found a nice, well maintained hotel, and enjoyed our very short break here. The Crocus is located just a bit outside the tiny center of Zakopane, less than 15 minutes of walking - but you have some supermarkets and a pharmacy in just 5 minute walking from the hotel. From the other hand, we were just 100 m from a bus stop: a five-minute ride at 3 zloty only, and we were at Kuznice cable car. Kuznice is the starting point for many hiking trails, so for us the location of Crocus hotel was excellent. Our room N105 was very spacious, as well as the bathroom; everything well maintained and clean. I would say that the size of TV was a bit ridiculous for such a big room: for instance, you can hardly watch it comfortable from the bed - but it wasn't an issue for us. The room has a small fridge - mini-bar, a safe, two chairs and a table. We liked it all. No A/C in rooms, and the days were quite hot (33C) - however, the room was not hot and we slept well. We used hotel's SPA only once - the hotel has a good (and hot!) sauna, a swimming pool and offer some SPA tretments. One special mention deserves Krzysztotof, the receptionist. We needed his friendly and very helpful suggestions about the hiking trails and rules, so our short break was very nice - and the hiking in Zakopane was worth it!…
The location is top - you can see the train station though the window, however, you never hear the train leaving or arriving. There is a small supermarket just round the corner as well as eating places (cafeterias, restaurants). We had an apartment on the 3rd floor. It was very clean, spacious, with a kitchenette and all kitchen utensils should we decide to have meals there. The breakfast was rich in choice. The coffee was super and the croissants were so delicious (I still remember the taste). The waiters at the restaurant during breakfast time were extremely efficient. The check-in and out were smooth. The parking lot was in front of the hotel.
