Vicuña is not only the birth of Gabriela Mistral (one of the most renown poetess of Chile) also is an Oasis which is close enough of Valle del Elqui (5 hours around). Plenty of palm trees decorate the landscape of the zone, with peaceful rivers flowing around and fresh air that give you a stand by in your desert trip.... More

The hotel is situated in the centre of Vicuna and has a private garage opposite the hotel. The hotel itself has a patio with rooms surrounding it and in the back a green garden with a swimming pool and the area is quiet. All you need for a convenient stay without wanting to pay the extra money for luxury. The... More

The hotel is in a charming old building. Our first floor room overlooked the street and had high ceilings, large windows and antique furnishings - i liked it a lot. The bathroom could do with an update and the pool area was a bit shabby. There is free secure parking. The location is central but the street was not too... More

The hotel is an old family home in Vicuna, furnished in an antique style. There is a sweet interior patio and a pool, as well as exercise machines in the back. The hotel is close to the central plaza and a short walk to the Gabriela Mistral museum and other destinations. The staff is very accommodating. Breakfast, however, was a... More

The receptionist was really helpful, and even if all double rooms were booked, we could stay for one of the two nights in a bigger "family room" and paid the normal price of a double room. The Hotel itself is very charming in an old building with a beautiful outside pool. We loved our stay at the "Halley Hotel" and... More

I personally found this a charming hotel, a little old fashioned, but in the odd way, like my grandmother's place in the old times: huge ceilings, painted furniture, boxes or rather baskets for sewing material. My daughter thought the old doll hanging on the wall was scary, but anyway, these are details. What mattered was that we couldn't sleep during... More

We loved this place. Others have remarked about its beautiful courtyard. But the breakfasts were incredible, the location, in the center of town, walking distance to the Gabriela Mistral museum, was not to be missed. The staff was extremely kind and helpful. Although an older hotel, it had a great deal of character and its price was reasonable.

We stayed one night, which was plenty. The building itself is characterful but needs some maintenance work. We had cold showers and there was also a bad smell coming from the drain in the bathroom. The staff on duty seemed very cold (like the showers) and didn't seem interested in trying to turn up the water temperature. The WIFI didn't... More

This is a rather special hotel in Vicuñia. An old, traditional building near the centre of town, the old facade hides a charming courtyard/garden with the bedrooms off in the traditional style of the area. I understand it was at one time a convent and that the current breakfast room was the dining hall. The rooms are cool and comfortable... More

US$65/night 1 night Very old, clean but neglected hotel which has not seen any updating in many years, was afraid the floors were going to fall through in the bedroom, also the back patio where swimming pool is looked like the grass had not been cut in a very long time. Breakfast was rolls, cheese, jam, juice and instant coffee.... More
